Wind rustled through the small garden that Procrit kept in the highest tower of his castle. It had been declared several years before his official thinking place and the various subjects of his kingdom had made a real effort to make the place conducive to thinking.
Kasumi was impressed with the results.
Large vibrant plants were tastefully arrayed a small waterfall and pool next to which sat a bench crafted of a bluish, transparent crystal. Small birds sung in harmony with variety of insects, adding a pleasant musical dimension to the scene while a number of assorted animals lounged about.
Kasumi walked bedazzled through the garden, drinking in the serenity that reigned. Very rarely in Nerima did she find moments where things were as peaceful as this and she had learned to exploit them to their fullest.
Making it to the bench she seated herself gracefully and treated the inhabitants of the garden to a smile of pure bliss, a far cry from her usual one which might have been better described as an expression of silent anger at the chaos that frequently destroyed the wa of her home.
"Excuse me," said a small voice in tandem with a tug on Kasumi's dress, "but are you Princess Kasumi?"
Kasumi turned to see a small elven girl dressed in a light green variant of the unisex outfit that the elves of Legendaria seemed to prefer. She smiled at the girl.
"Yes, I am. And you are? I'm afraid we haven't been properly introduced yet."
"Haranavei Caelestis, Princess Kasumi," the girl said, sketching a hasty bow. "'m the garden's caretaker."
"You've done a wonderful job, Haranavei, the garden's beautiful."
Haranavei felt like she could have died that moment only to find heaven a dissapointment in comparison. She had seen the Princess several times before, but only at a distance. Up close Kasumi's natural beauty and aura of niceness combined with the halo effect that the mid-afternoon sun was making her seem like an angel in Haranavei's eyes.
"Would you like me to show you around it?" she offered tentatively.
Kasumi stood up and took Haranavei's hand. "Yes, I would like that very much.
Haranavei broke into a broad grin and started excitedly dragging her new idol all about the garden, showing off things not readily apparent, explaining the properties of the plants and chattering endlessly about numerous other topics.
Kasumi found herself taking a liking to the energetic elven girl. Haranavei's boundless enthusiasm and good nature made it hard not too. They were just sitting back on the bench enjoying a pile of berries thoughtfully provided by a pair of voles when:
