"There's nothing wrong," Ryoko said turning away from Tenchi. "I..." Tenchi grabbed her shoulders and turned her around to face him.
"You aren't acting normal," he said. "What's wrong?"
Ryoko blinked and then put on a lascivious smirk.
"Why Tenchi, how bold you are," she said, leaning forward and trying to wrap herself sensuously around him.
It would normally work to keep him distracted, and seeing the half-frightened, half-embarrassed expression on his face that should result would have been something of a lift. She was not expecting him to shift his grip to her wrists and push her hands away from him.
"Not this time, Ryoko," Tenchi repeated.
"How often do I have to say it?" Ryoko demanded waspishly. "I'm fine, there's nothing wrong! I just don't like the cold. I never have! You know that!" She didn't try to free her hands however.
"You've been acting weird ever since we got split in the blizzard from everybody else," Tenchi said. "And the last time you acted like this, you almost died!"
He directed them both next to the fire and sat down, pulling Ryoko with him. It was a silent testament to here state of mind that she followed without complaint or comment.
"I don't want to go through that again, Ryoko," Tenchi said. "What's wrong?"
"I'm not going to die, Tenchi," she protested quietly next to the fire. "I'll be fine."
"So you admit you aren't fine right now?" Tenchi ask.
"I didn't say..."
"If you'll be fine, you have to be something else first, right?" Tenchi asked. "So what's wrong?"
Ryoko growled wordlessly and looked into the fire.
"What's wrong, Ryoko?" he asked again, pressing still.
"What?"
"Lady Ryoko Shinku. It's what they call me every time they find me. The people that killed my parents."
