"Oh, Souuuuuun dear..."
Whimpering, Soun tried to crawl a little faster.
"That's it," said the shovel operator. "We haven't hit anything for the past hour and that's about as deep as we can go."
The police officer in charge nodded. "We'll have to catalog and identify all this stuff before we can make sure it gets back to the rightful owners. Not to mention a complete inventory for when we charge those three thieves."
"What about this hole?" An engineer asked.
"Hey, I gotta load a concrete and sealant from a pool I did on Kosuke Street," mentioned a shopkeeper. "Let's put a pool up here."
Nabiki let out a deep breath and tried to get her head back together after reading The Report.
Each of the daughters Tendo had decided some quiet time - alone - would be best as they tried to sort through the series of revelations. That Ranma had gone through all that while a relatively innocent child, it explained so much of his behavior. Like his inability to handle when Shampoo had dumped him due to the reversal jewel. He'd have been unable to handle almost anyone trying to get rid of him because of deeply rooted fears of being alone. ANY attention was desperately sought on a continual basis, even if it was hostile. Because of the constant changes in environment, he sought stability in relations even as he was used to things being at least mainly chaotic.
There might be hope for a Ranma + Akane marriage eventually. Nabiki wasn't sure if what the two had was actually love and not merely some form of obsession, but if the two fell back into old patterns again it wasn't going to do either any good. After Ranma healed some - they'd have to see.
Nabiki watched the scenery go by as the train moved, and tried to come up with some way to damage control the harm she herself had done.
Kasumi sat at a small cafe, her cup of tea untouched before her, as she considered her own changing feelings. She had gotten all but one photograph from Akane, and so had been skimming back and forth within the Report.
It was... enlightening. "Oh my" didn't even come close to covering it.
Finally, Kasumi came to a decision regarding the Report.
Ignore it.
That which you couldn't do a thing about, ignore it and get on with the things that you could do something about. It was a thoroughly Japanese attitude.
So deciding, Kasumi paid her bill and left. Someone had to get back to the house after all.
