"So let me get this straight..." Ranma said. "Nabiki's kid, and two of mine are half... morgahndi?"
"Moriquendi." Kiyone corrected.
"Whatever. And the odd one out is half-human, making it Nabiki's, Right?"
"That's right, Ranma." Dr. Tofu confirmed.
Nabiki gave a low whistle. Turning to Kiyone, she said, "Wow. Three out of four. For a race that doesn't breed often, you sure managed to get the job done, didn't you?"
Kiyone went slightly pink, and Dr. Tofu chuckled. "Actually," he said, "as Washuu-chan explained it, that's not too surprising. Since the women have such a small window of fertility, with a very long time between, Moriquendi males have very... potent... sperm." Kiyone went slightly more red at that. "In fact, I'm more surprised that ALL the children aren't half Moriquendi."
Nabiki went slightly pink herself, before smirking. "Hey, going first has it's advantages..."

"So you're saying that my child might grow up to be..."
"As neurotic as Mihoshi." Washuu confirmed with a nod. "I can't tell for certain... it's still too early into the pregnancy to tell if your child is empathetic or not. But if it is then developing alone can end up leaving your child a basket case before it's even born. And by the time I could successfully test for empathetic ability, it would be too late."
Akane didn't like hearing that. Mihoshi was a wonderful person... but anyone could tell that she wasn't a very stable person. Akane could admit to herself that she wasn't very... stable, either. She didn't want to pass that onto her baby! "But, what can we do?"
Washuu got that 'I'm glad you asked that' look in her eyes. "Normally... nothing." Akane was crestfallen, but then Washuu continued. "But, since you're in the care of the GREATEST SCIENTIFIC GENIUS IN THE UNIVERSE, you have an option!" She finished, posing dramatically.
Mini-Washuu A appeared. "Nothing is impossible for Washuu!"
Mini-Washuu B followed. "There's always a way with Washuu around!"
"She's the GREATEST!!" the puppets finished together, before disappearing.
Akane just stared as Washuu began laughing to herself. "Umm... option? What is it?"
Washuu got a hold of herself. "Yes, of course. Fortunately for us, you are still early in your pregnancy, or this wouldn't be so easy to fix. I can still induce the fetus to split, resulting in identical twins. That should be enough for them to work with, should they develop empathetic traits." Washuu's eyes gleamed. "Of course, identical twins are exceedingly rare among the Daikyou population. Seeing how they develop will be... fascinating."
Akane looked a bit nervous at that.
"So, should I do this? I'd need you to come to my lab for a couple hours if you want it."
"Ummm, I need to think about this. I mean, we already need to try and deal with eight children, and Nabiki can't make the money stretch that far as is. What would we do with a ninth? And I really should talk to Mihoshi first..."
"If money's the only problem," Washuu said seriously, "Then I'm sure we can work something out. You lot are friends of the family, so to speak. And that not only includes me and my inventions, but Jurian Royalty as well. Not to mention that Mihoshi cames from a fairly well-to-do family, herself. I can assure you, we won't let some petty money problems bring you down." Washuu then sighed. "And you need to make your decision as soon as possible. Within three days, please. The longer you wait, the harder it will be for me to perform this little miracle, got it?"
Akane nodded. Then she got up, and started the tedious task of trying to wake Mihoshi up from where she had fallen asleep.
