War, though he was one of the Four Horsemen, was not evil. At least he did not regard himself as evil.
He regarded himself as the avatar of evolution. Physical battle was the most pure form of resolving conflict, of proving one's own existence. War was necessary for the defender to defend themselves and for the conquerer to improve the lives of the conquering nation. The strong proved their ideals and philosophies and the very act of war itself made them stronger.
War was the chance to prove oneself. The chance to better oneself. A primary agent for both chaos and law. Who lived and who died was not as important as the conflict and its resolution. At least, that was how War looked at it.
War found a stripling youth that claimed to be a godkiller challenging him. War had trouble taking the threat seriously, but War did not have a sense of humor and rationalized it as a young boy who had yet to learn his limits.
So be it.
War accepted Ranma's attack and returned it. First doubling it, then trebling, then continuing to raise the mark. War knew every form of martial art since the first ape descendent had picked up a stick.
War let the boy extend himself, and then crushed him. Not to kill, because War was not always a killer, but when one had fought a War - there were always scars left. So it was now.
Ranma for his part had been uncertain of how to proceed when his every move was blocked and countered. Then the guy seemed to produce a ki attack that went beyond anything Ryouga could have done.
Ranma came to rest in the hallways of Furinkan a moment before the ceiling collapsed and the storage shed he had landed in blew up.
War got on his horse and rode away, never glancing backwards. If the boy lived, he would be stronger. If he died, then it wasn't particularly of concern.
