Stop & Find: The Slow Winding River of Space [Episode 35660]

by The Demented Redhead

If Nabiki had to describe her passage through whatever tunnel the box had sent her down, it would be summed up in one word.

Boring.

She was just floating, barely feeling anything as she moved from whatever was Point A to Point B. Sure, she could turn around—not sure how she could considering she was floating—and see what looked like one face of the box Ranma had brought into her home.

And sure enough, it was the face that had Ranma’s image on it. Except now it was the image of him giving a victory sign as she flew away.

“Oh, he’s paying for that,” she mused, as she turned back around, trying to see the end of the boring ride.

“Really, how long does it take here?” she asked no one in particular. After all, at this speed, she should have seen Saotome by now, and then convinced him to push her backwards so she could end up back at the Dojo. It was the only sensible thing to do; he’d just have to sacrifice himself to Destiny to save her life. Hell, she’d take a 1000 yen off his tab for his trouble.

But he wasn’t in front of her, only his smirking picture was behind her, and there was still no end in sight.

“Either Saotome got a lot more patient in the past when that box was made … or this is broke,” she muttered, folding her arms against her chest, and giving herself a quick once-over to ensure being sucked into the box didn’t destroy her outfit any.

After ensuring she’d be presentable to demand acquire Ranma’s help into getting back home, she leaned back and decided to enjoy the ride. It was almost like the slow rides at the water park, just without having to worry about running into annoying children or the sides.

Of course, she could be wrong about the speed. For all she knew, the panel behind her was the size of a skyscraper, and as such, she was moving only fast enough for it to appear to be slowly receding into the distance. “That’s the problem with tunnels, you can’t tell how fast you’re moving,” she said, looking around, deciding a good description might be worth some yen to the sci-fi geeks back at Furinkan.

There were no shooting lights, no swirls of colors, nothing really she had seen from her own television and movie watching experiences. In fact, even the tunnel itself seemed … drab. It was just a surrounding of base colors.

“Yeah, Saotome had to have a hand in it,” she grumbled. “Who else would make this so damned boring.”

As she was about to fall asleep, she felt some sort of … pull, a jerk as if she had been yanked upon. Opening her eyes, she looked behind her, noticing that Ranma’s image was no longer there.

“Did I fall asleep?” she wondered, as she looked forward. Sure enough, it looked like an exit was quickly approaching. But the lights around it were so bright, she couldn’t tell if another panel was there, let alone the shape of the exit. She could only think one thing as the light became too bright for her eyes.

“Saotome will pay for this!”

And then she exited.
