We're Doomed: "Are we going to fight or not!?" [Episode 3748]

by Thrythlind

Kiyoko tapped her foot impatiently and checked her watch. There was no way she was going to turn her back on that statue in the middle of this room. She only wished it would hurry up and attack her already. This waiting was getting annoying, not to mention that Heller was probably far ahead of her by now.

"Are we going to fight, or are you going to stand there like a hunk of metal?" she asked angrily. The statue said nothing. "Fine, I'll just head on down the corridor then."

She edged around the statue and started backing toward the corridor. Finally the statue woke up and moved forward yelling some gibberish at her.

"Quit griping already, it wasn't me holding things up," she muttered irritably.

The thing's spear lashed out, Kiyoko dodged aside and caught the spear and jerked. The girl was surprised when the spear didn't come free. Then the statue laughed and charged forward, pushing her back.

"Let go of the spear already," she growled, dropping back to the ground and using the added leverage of gravity to propel the statue up...where two great scything blades sheared off its arms as it passed over her and landed in the corridor behind her.

"Oh...the spear is part of the arms," she said absently.

The statue valiantly tried to right itself, using the golden wings that, while not providing flight, did make a semi-good replacement for a pair of arms.

"Oh no you don't," Kiyoko snapped.

The corridor rang for several seconds with the sound of enchanted metal striking enchanted metal. Kiyoko hmphed and walked forward a few feet, and suddenly felt the corridor become a ramp under her feet.

"AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" The japanese girl tumbled for several yards shouting with every bounce about how booby traps should trigger a danger sense.

Just before her flashlight shattered against the ground she caught sight of a large crack in the ground ahead of her. Gaining control of her roll, she leaped out and scrabbled for contact on the other edge. What she hoped was the other edge anyway.

Kiyoko breathed an intense sigh of relief as she felt rock under her hands and pulled herself up. As she was catching her breath, leaning against the wall, there was a rush of displaced air and a tremendous crash. Nervously looking back, she saw the crack filled with a huge block of rock.

"Heh..heh...heh."

"At least she can defeat it on her own."

"She used a trap too."

"But she at least fell on purpose."

"...She used a trap too!"
