We're Doomed: Favor of the Gods [Episode 3796]

by Thrythlind

Kiyoko shook her head clear as she woke up and looked about to see sand dune after sand dune. She growled in frustration, obviously Heller had woken up before her and left her in the desert to rot. Right next to him and her own jeep.

"How did we get out of there?" she asked herself. Then she looked around, and couldn't see the entrance to the temple anywhere. Then again maybe they weren't in the same place, she could actually see Cairo out at the edge of the horizen.

"Ow, what hit me?" Kiyoko growled and turned to face her tormentor.

Everything seemed so clear suddenly, it was amazing. She had always had good vision, but this was something else indeed.

"Maybe you didn't quite read the inscription right," Kiyoko snapped. "We got hit with some sort of spell."

She gawked as the young man turned to face her, he blinked and pointed.

"Uh, Kiyoko," he said. "What happened to you?"

"What happened to me?" she repeated. "What about you? Look at those ears!"

"What about my ears?" he reached up and felt his ears and scrunched his face in confusion. "Wow...I'm a vulcan, it would explain why I can suddenly hear all sorts of things though."

"And what's happened to me?" Kiyoko asked dangerously, she reached back, brushing something scratching at her back. It didn't seem to be wanting to go away, she felt it and wondered how a feather had gotten in her hair. She started to grip the feather.

"I wouldn't pull on that if I were you," he said.

"I don't know about you," Kiyoko snapped. "But I don't like things caught in my hair."

"Don't say I didn't warn you," he shrugged. Kiyoko glared and narrowed her eyes, then pulled.

The girl clapped a hand over her mouth to keep from shrieking as the feather came free from her skull. She pulled it around to look at it and noted the blood at the base.

"I have feathers," she noted irritably. Then she glared at the snickering Jeremiah. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME!?!!"

Jeremiah snapped to his feet and dodged aside as the angered girl charged him.

"Where did they go?" the male voice asked.

"They vanished as the blessing enchantment completed."

"I know that, where did they go?"

"You're guess is as good as mine."

"What happened, was there some interference?"

"Oh come on," a third voice said. "You can't expect it to be easy for you. It wouldn't be any fun that way."

"You," the female noted. "Why can't we get a break?" Then she turned to face the newcomer. "Our 'Chosen Ones' are a pair of incompetent teenagers that hate each other, we don't need the help of an outside pantheon to make this interesting."

"Its better this way," the third voice indicated. "You don't expect those two to immediately run off to save the world do you? Let them find out on their own."

"You just like to make things difficult," the first male voice accused.

"So?"

"Our enemies agents have been revealed," the man said. He was seated at the head of a large table in the middle of boardroom.

At the table sat a collection of men and women in dark suits each facing the man at the head of the table, they appeared eerily calm. Almost too calm to be human, but the calm didn't reach their eyes. Eyes concealed behind glasses of varying design, ranging from mirror shades to the regular sunglasses. Behind those eyes seethed raging chaos and destruction with no regard to anything but its survival.

"The minions that were sealed away long ago have been destroyed," the man said. "Send forces to the cities surrounding the Fools' Temple. It should be obvious who Horus and Bast have chosen."

"Yes, master," the beings at the table bowed their heads in supplication.

"Leave now," the command was given. "Find and destroy them."
