"Yaww," one of them yawned as he arched his back and flipped his wings out to stretch out the morning kinks. "Morning Mom." He looked over his dark purple fur and golden feathers and yawned again.
"Just three more minutes..." the other said as she flopped her head back down. The female of the winged cats had golden fur and purple feathers
"Wake up," Horus said firmly, causing both cats to snap into full wakefullness and attention.
"Hey, dad," the female cat said nervously. "Something wrong?"
"Horus, dear," Bast said.
"Yes?" the hawk god asked, turning toward her.
"DON'T SCARE MY BABIES!!!"
"Errr," Horus said, looking at his wife of the last two-thousand years. "You're cute when you're angry?"
"I am?" Bast asked all anger vanishing. "Thank you!! But we have to get on to business now."
"Oh, we have a job," the boy cat said.
"Ailurous, Mihos," Horus said, regarding first the female cat and then the male. "The Chosen saviors of the world have been found!"
"Oooo!" Ailuros said. "Is my charge a cute guy?"
"Actually," Horus said. "She's a girl."
"A girl?" Ailuros said disenheartened.
"A psycho girl," Bast added. Horus gave her a reproachful look. "Well she is...she's a power-hungry, megalomaniac."
"Errr..." Ailuros said.
"Her body wouldn't have accepted the blessing if she weren't basically good," Horus protested.
"And if she didn't share your taste for big explosions," Bast added.
"Urk..."
"At least Kiyoko isn't a layabout weasel like that Heller you got," Horus protested.
"Lay about weasel?" Mihos blinked, not liking the sound of this.
"How come he gets the guy and I get the girl?" Ailuros protested.
"Because if we let you 'guide' the guy," Horus said. "Nothing would get done except we'd have some grand-kids pretty soon."
"Oh...poo," Ailuros protested.
Bast isn't listening..."And some string, and kitty litter, make sure to clean it out, oh and a jingly ball, and canned tuna, and yarn, and more string, and a rubber mouse...and oooo....yarrrrn...aaa..."
