"Hold it right there!" an imperious voice ordered as its owner arrived on the scene.
The two forces paused for a moment to sized each other up before engaging in combat.
The Invaders wore black suits, glasses and hats. There were twenty of them in the street and each manikin was identical to the next. The exception was number twenty. The boss Invader wore a red suit but was otherwise indistinguishable from the rest. They were armed with luggage guns; heavy ordinance concealed within ordinary looking suit cases until deployed.
Facing them were a young school girl and an older boy, both in typical Japanese school uniforms. It was a very uneven contest for, though the Invaders had them outnumbered, the pair had their opponents hopelessly outclassed. They were, after all, highly trained agents of a top secret global organisation devoted to intercepting and exterminating such alien invaders.
The boss invader glanced at its forces. As one their luggage transformed into high caliber bazookas and opened fire. Ranma surged forward as Hotaru formed a silence wall behind him. Invaders were not easy opponents. The powers of the Gatekeepers, amplified by Gate Engines when needed, were normally considered the best weapon available to combat the Invaders, but Ranma had... reasons... for avoiding opening his Gate. However he knew better than to rush at it straight away because the Invaders defenses would be strongly focused on protecting their greatest weakness. Instead he first concentrated on wittling down those defenses and sowing confussion amonst the enemy. Moving faster than the human eye could see, almost faster than even the invaders' inhuman calculations could follow, Ranma seemed to appear out of nowhere, strike down a surprised Invader, then vanish before the rest could orientate their weapons.
Hotaru knew she could not unleash her offensive powers while Ranma was in the midst of the targets. All she could do was remain nervous behind her barrier even after the Invaders stopped trying to blast through. Still, it wasn't a situation that called for anything more than Ranma to casually disintegrate the Invaders into a bunch of rapidly disolving crystals.
Then she uttered an alarmed gasp as she realised that...
