Judging from the suns position it was noon, it'd been who knew how many hours since he last ate or drank something so now seemed as good a time as any to take a break. But the fact that he didn't have an accounting for the missing hours since wondering through downtown tokyo started what promised to be a headache of epic proportions. Fortunately for Ranma his stomach made itself known at last.
Opening the top of his pack he thought it looked, odd. Pausing for a moment to look at the camping pack he saw several mended tears in the tough fabric and the general color of the cloth seemed faded. Strange that he hadn't noticed that before since the first real (useful) lesson he ever got out of his father was caring for his camping supplies. Living in Nerima though hadn't caused him to look out for his stuff except for his clothes and food, so he must have just overlooked it.....somehow.
Taking that as the explanation he opened the pack again and started rifling through the stuff inside. Though in the back of his mind a little thought formed along the lines that the pack was 'older' and more used then it should have been. Eventually a host of factors such as anxiety, the need to have a 'normal explanation for once in his life and hunger suppressed that little thought. That didn't mean it went away though.
Taking out some of the items in the pack, and ignoring the fact that it seemed 'fuller' (if one could really use that word) then he originally remembered. He also went to some pains to ignore the fact that the items in the pack, such as his shirts, pan and some manga, all seemed a bit more worn and torn then he could remember when he packed em.
It wasn't until he reached the bottom of the pack where he found the food, and the false bottom.
"What the?"
He KNEW this pack didn't have a false bottom, cause he'd never put one in their. He was sure he wasn't hallucinating this cause when he picked up the pack and felt around the bottom he felt something poking through the cloth, perhaps several somethings. He nearly hesitated as that little thought in the back of his mind resurfaced and a knot of worry/anxiety started twisting his stomach into odd shapes. He knew this hadn't been their last night, because when he packed the bag he'd made sure that nothing else was in there before he began packing.
Sitting down on the ground, hard, he quickly opened the pack and reached down to that bit of odd cloth covering the bottom, concealing what may be a link to what happened last night....
Tearing the cloth covering away he took out one of the items and saw:
