Shinji woke up feeling unusually good. Last night had been a big success... he didn't remember the last time he'd had that much fun.
Stepping out of his bedroom, he headed for the bathroom, and met Asuka just leaving.
Asuka blinked. Something was different about Shinji... she just couldn't put her finger on it... oh, wait! "Wow, you're looking happy this morning. Maybe we should play RPG's regularly."
Shinji rolled his eye, but his good mood did not dissipate. "I guess I just haven't had much fun for a while..."
Asuka was prepared to make a comment along the lines of "...if ever," but they were interrupted first.
Misato passed both of them by and into the bathroom. They heard the water running for a moment, and then Misato left again. Moments later, a fully dressed Misato appeared, said, "Comeonguys! You'regoingtobelate!Moveit, moveit, moveit!ack!Igottago!" And then left the apartment.
Shinji and Asuka, along with Pen-pen at the table, just stared at where she had once been. "Well... she's... hyper." Asuka needlessly commented.

Ritsuko frowned as she looked at the monitor. She herself hadn't noticed anything other than being slightly tired... understandable, after being up so late. She definitely wasn't in college anymore.
Kaji walked in. "Good morning, Ritsuko," he said with his usual smile. He too, had yet to notice any changes. Then Kaji blinked. "Shouldn't Maya be here by now?"
Ritsuko shrugged. "She called in sick." She said in a distracted manner.
Now Kaji frowned. "What's up?"
"I don't know. The Magi are detecting something they can't really place. Currently, they are calling it Pattern Orange-A, some sort of altered orange pattern."
"Orange pattern means human, right?"
Ritsuko nodded. "Yes, but the Magi can't tell how, why, or who yet."
"Can't tell who? I thought the Magi could detect patterns at great distance and with a lot of accuracy."
"They can... but think of it like this: in a field of orange, anyone could easily pick out spots of blue. But finding spots that are just a slightly darker or lighter shade of orange?"
Kaji nodded, getting the idea, "Possible, but it's going to take them some time."
"Exactly."

Meanwhile, Maya was coming to a small decision. She'd called in sick, and would proceed to have a nervous breakdown.
The beautiful yellow and purple butterfly wings that had sprouted from her back the night before fluttered a bit.
Then she'd attempt flying...

Rei blinked as she looked at herself in the mirror. She still looked the same... but there was something off about her. She couldn't put her finger on it, but for some reason...
"Whole," she whispered to herself. "I feel... whole."
What had caused this? What did it mean?
She touched her fingers to the mirror, and frowned slightly.
And why was she suddenly dissatisfied with her appearance?

Hikari gasped as she got up. She felt like something was constricting her! Frantically, she unclasped the bra she'd worn to bed, and sighed in relief as the pressure disappeared.
Then she started thinking. And wondered what had happened that her bra had suddenly felt so tight? The buzzing in her head - almost as though she was hearing other voices - wasn't helping matters. She got out of bed and headed to her mirror.
The sight that greeted her was a shock! It was still her face... but... her body...
She looked like a slightly less mature form of that pin-up girl she'd seen in Touji's locker... the one she'd based her character off of...
Taking stock of the situation, Hikari did the most sensible thing she could think of at the time.
She passed out.

Hikari wasn't the only one to suffer from a radical physical change. Touji had also woken up substantially altered, Suddenly finding himself two feet taller, three feet broader, and with about 200 more pounds of muscle added to his frame. He couldn't even fit into any of his father's clothes like this, and had been forced to compensate by wearing a sheet as an impromptu toga. Now he was trying to call someone for help.
He reached for the phone.
Picked it up.
It shattered in his hand as he accidentally applied too much pressure.
Toji stared a moment at the ruined phone.
"Well... shit."

Kensuke trembled as he looked at what he had just done. He'd woken up with an idea, and before he really realized what he was doing, he'd taken apart his flashlight, his radio, a few of his more complex models, and some spare computer parts, and then reassembled them into... this.
He picked up what used to be his flashlight, and turned it on. A three foot beam of energy poured from out of the lens, and remained stable.
With a little idea, and stuff he had just lying around... he'd made a facsimile of a light saber. One that he'd guess would last for about two days before he'd need to replace the batteries.
And that wasn't all. Right now, he could see the War Mech armor's plans in his mind... and knew that he could build it if he got the parts and equipment he needed. He could even improve on the design.
It didn't take much for Kensuke's now-augmented intelligence to make the leap of logic to what had happened. Now though... what should he do about it?
