After a moment of flipping through a few pages, the book fell bonelessly from Ranma's hands. The little book was obviously Kasumi's diary.
He looked down on the inert form of the eldest Tendo daughter. Taking in her sleeping visage, memories from the night before crashed down onto his mind.
After hearing the noises from Soun's room, he'd gone out to the dojo to do a few kata. That done, he went back upstairs to find his lazy panda-father already asleep in their room. He decided to take a bath before hitting the sack himself. On the way to the furo, he saw that Kasumi's door wasn't completely open. She was inside at her desk writing. Curious, he had opened the door the rest of the way and asked what she was doing. Her reaction was definately not expected. She panicked, then muttered something about needing to tend to something downstairs and rushed out of her room. In her haste, she didn't notice that she left behind her black covered book. In another bout of curiosity, Ranma picked it up and read a few pages.
To say he was shocked was an understatement. Her diary had only a few entries from before his and the panda's arrival, but afterwards it was clear that the new excitment in her life warranted a need to be recorded. As the entries became more recent, he found his name more and more often. Kasumi had written much of her feelings down as well.
Ranma couldn't believe his eyes. Kasumi was in love with him! Everything was there: Her feelings towards the pig-tailed martial artist, her regret from passing him on to her sister, a bit of irritaion towards her sister because of their behavior towards him, even a few mischievious thoughts towards Ranma's girl side.
Later, Kasumi had found her diary missing. Going under a correct assumption, she found Ranma in his room. He was sitting next to his sleeping father, contemplating the little book. For an hour, they sat talking. Kasumi, explaining her feelings. Ranma, sorting out his own. At the end of the night, Kasumi didn't want to leave. She boldly asked to lay with him for the night. Ranma found that he couldn't bring himself to deny her request.
In the present, Ranma blew out a breath. He still had to deal with whatever his and Kasumi's fathers had planned. There was also the matter of the pretty girl sleeping in his futon. He knew it was only a matter of time before something would happen, and he would be on the recieving end of a lot of pain.
His musings were interrupted by...
