Faking It: Damning Evidence.....But for Who? [Episode 45873]

by Mantech1

The officer wasn't unprepared for a display of magic, heck living in Quagmire you had to get used to the stuff.....even when it blew your house up, along with your rare collection of 17th century stien coasters. So he believed in magic, though he also believed that Prof. Steamhead should never be left alone with a faulty radiator either. So seeing how out of sorts the young man was he immediately took the young man (after Ranma doused himself with the cup of hot water) to the interrogation room.

It was a good deal more private then his desk and as they entered he flicked a switch on the 'AC' which would cool the room but by default it would also activate the camera behind the one-way mirror and the microphones that had been placed throughout the room. He didn't think the boy was really guilty of anything major though from the skittish way he acted the officer assumed that the boy might have committed a minor offense at some point like stealing candy or something. No the real reason he activated the recording devices had to do with the way the boy was acting whenever a woman was close by and.........because of Nodoka.

In his last two years of highschool he knew a girl called Nodoka who excelled at everything. They were friends but not best friends like he would've liked. That woman always approached everything with an iron will and a keen mind that sometimes scared their teachers. Given Nodoka's nimble mind it was a surprise to find her parents such strict traditional parents, when he heard about their plans to have Nodoka marry some boy she'd never met before he couldn't believe it. And no matter what Nodoka said or did he knew it was nothing but a mask to hide the hurt and pain she felt at her parents betrayal of her dreams.

It had been so long since he thought of her that just remembering that time and the years he hadn't even tried to find her and ask how she was brought a flush of shame to his face. At that point Ranma turned around and looked taken aback at the officers face and for a brief moment the officer couldn't help comparing Ranma and Nodoka. They were so similiar! He could see Nodoka's features in the boys face and the similarity of their eyes, both blue, shining with an inner light. Perhaps it was wishful thinking on his part but it didn't matter if he could help the lad.

"Sit down, Saotome-san. Would you like some more tea?" Seeing the shifty look to the youths eyes and the way he shook his head the officer guessed that the tea was acting unusual today. For once he was grateful to be addicted to coffee, despite what his friends always told him. Taking a seat across from the youth he smiled encourageingly. "I brought you here cause I really want to know why you......left home. This room is soundproofed so whatever you say stays in here." Unless, he added in his mind, something really bad had happened to the young man or if he had seen something. "The door isn't locked and you can leave anytime you want......but I wan't to help you and the only way I can do that is if you tell me what's wrong."

Ranma looked away from the officers frank expression and said. "You cant help me."

The officer switched to another tactic. "How will we both know for sure until you tell me?"
