"What are we doing?" Misato asked visibly concentrating on speaking normally.
"Being unobtrusive at the moment," Kaji replied.
Misato nodded and glanced into a side room. She blinked rapidly and checked again. At her heightened speed, it looked like only a moment.
"Kajiritsukoisinthereandshelookslikeshehadanaccident," Misato whispered.
Kaji gritted his teeth and whispered back, "Slow down."
Ignoring Misato for a second, Kaji looked into the room and saw Ritsuko covered with soot marks. Kaji frowned, as he tried to recall what character Ritsuko played last night. He motioned for Misato to follow him and entered the room. As soon as Misato entered the room, she closed the door. Ritsuko looked up startled.
"You as well?" Kaji asked. "I think that confirms it."
"Confirms what?" Ritsuko asked. "I'm trying to figure out why I wasn't electrocuted from that faulty vending machine."
Kaji stretched one arm out to the oppiste wall and placed his palm flat against it. Ritsuko stared in shock.
"I gained stretching powers. Misato is a speedster. You must have those electrical powers. We've become the characters of that game we played last night."
"That's not possible," Ritsuko replied. "That goes against several scientific theories."
"Then how did I stretch my arm?" Kaji retorted, withdrawing his arm back to its normal shape. "Whether it is possible or not, it happened."
Misato's hands flew to her mouth. "OhmygodShinjiand thekidstheymusthavegainedpowersaswell!"
Kaji said, "Uh oh. That could cause problems. If their new powers interfere with their syncronization with the EVA's...."
Ritsuko, still a little skeptical, understood. "We'll have to run tests on them.... But first, I'd like to run tests on the two of you."
Misato clenched her fist and unclenhed it rapidly. She nodded and sat down on a chair. Her entire movements made her look like a blur.
Ritsuko muttered, "I'm getting tired just watching her."
