He had several powerful genie, who used to be fiancees, due to an improperly phrased wish that his fiancees could all get along.
That included fiancees from arrangements that his mother had made, his father had made, and one girl he'd pinky-sworn on a playground when he was three years old.
There was:
Akane, ifrit of the raging fire
Nabiki, ifrit of smoke and shadow
Kasumi, marid of mist and fog
Ukyo, marid of the raging sea
Kodachi, djinni of the whirlwind
Shampoo, dao of mountain reaches
Hotaru, ifrit of the hearth
Ami, marid of the snow
Minako, djinni of the spring winds
Setsuna, marid of the depths
Nuku, dao of the plains
The Nerima regulars were arguing. Predictably. Loudly.
"What are these rings for?" Ranma asked.
"Temporary side effect," said the still youthened Cologne. "Well, now your fiancees have a feeling of sisterhood among them, they are all effectively married to you, and I expect that's going to be one hell of a honeymoon once they get over some of the problems with the concept."
"Huh?" said Ranma.
"Aiyaaaa," said Hotaru with a severe blush.
"How are we going to explain this to our families?" Ami asked.
"We can go back and continue our lives," said Setsuna. "Yet Ranma can summon us at any time."
"What's that you're reading?" Ami asked on seeing Setsuna flipping through a book.
Setsuna merely held the cover towards her. "'So Now You're A Genie, A Guide To The Seven Spheres'"
"Can I see that after you're done?" asked Ami.
Cologne reopened the restaurant and began serving customers as Setsuna took a table and the other girls hovered (in one case literally) nearby to listen.
"This is quite lengthy and would probably be best taken in small increments while we get used to this," said Setsuna. "Which section should I read from?"
