"Yes," Kodachi said. "But everybody thought it was an accident. My father had someone paid to have me released."
Kodachi, it seemed was actually one of the minor cases in comparison to her family. Which was troubling, because Kodachi would have been considered a severe case in any other situation.
Mild schizophrenia, bordering on severe. Chemical depression, psycological depression, suicidal tendencies(including an interest in dangerous animals and plants, fine on its own, but she took it to levels that would make Steve Irwin squeamish). Abandonment issues from her parent's divorce and mother's subsequent disappearance. Paranoia. Post traumatic stress disorder, though he couldn't get at exactly what had caused that, something to do with a church. Obsessive/compulsive disorder. Delusions of grandeur. Intimacy issues.
She was likely to be in the clinic for a long time, but her prognosis was good. Especially as she herself was interested in working through the treatment. Even her schizophrenia was of a type that could be easily a type that could be easily controled.
Her family, on the other hand, were kept in the heavy security wing of the asylum and had to be watched constantly.
Several times they had attempted to attack the staff and escape. Fortunately, without their weapons, they weren't enough to get through the numbers of the guards. Not to mention the stun guns.
Kodachi was comparatively pleasant, though she was far from normal. For instance, her talking about her suicide attempt as if it were a mere curiousity. Though, with the proper medications for controlling her chemical problems, she was a lot more peaceful. That just left working through the psychological traumas that helped warp her.
"And why did you try to kill yourself," the doctor asked.
Kodachi hesitated a moment.
"I was bored," she said finally.
"Is that it?" the doctor asked.
"That's it," she said firmly. "Oh dear, I do believe time is up. I must go to lunch now and you have another appointment."
"That is my line, Miss Kuno," the doctor said, smiling at it anyway.
