However, it was then that two people jumped off from the top of the train. A red-headed woman named Jessie and a portly man named Biggs. Then three people came out of the train once it was clear. A large, nubian man known as Barret Wallace, a man with spikey bron hair named Wedge, and the Humanoid Typhoon. Vash the Stampede. Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge went on forward.
Barret looked around, doing a double check. The area they had come into was rather lax on security. he turned back to Vash, "C'mon Vash. Follow me." Barret stopped as he saw Vash putting the two gaurds onto the train. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?"
Vash looked over his shoulder. "I told you. I will not let these people get killed by the bomb going off. So, I'm putting them on the train, so we can get the out of here."
Barret growled in annoyance. He took hold of Vash's hand and he started leading Vash towards the reactor. They were about to turn the corner and head towards the entrance of the Mako Reactor, two MPs stand ready to fight. Their automatics gleaming with the light from the electric lights all around the base.
Barret growled and readied his weapon. "They're going down.."
And it was then that Barret was surprised once again. Two shots rang out, and both men dropped their weapons, which had been shot and ruined. Barret was about to shoot, but then Vash rran into the fray and knocked the two men out with a few well-placed punches.
Barret nodded his head. "Quite impress..." His words died on his lips as soon as he saw Vash putting the two men over his shoulders. "Damn it! Don't tell me yer gonna @#$%in' carry everyone you beat up out to that damn train!"
Vash nodded his head and smiled. Only to get clonked over the head by Barret's gattling gun. "OW! What was that for?"
"Damn it, fool! We don't have time to waist!" Barret yelled. Grabbing Vash's arm again, Vash dropped the two men as he was dragged forward. Barret then left to look around, leaving Vash there. Noticing the group of people, Vash was introduced to the rest of AVALANCHE at the large electronic gates.
Biggs looked Vash over as he walked closer. "Hey, this is the guy that's the crack-shot shooter, right? Not everyday ya find one of them in a group like AVALANCHE."
"Crack-shot nothing." Jessie said as she fiddled with her portable computer which she had connected to the control mechanism on the front of the gate. "Barret said he was a genius with a gun. I feel luky he's alongside us in AVALANCHE."
Wedge nodded his head. "Yeah. And it's a rarity to hear Barret actually PRAISE someone." He looked over at Vash, and asked, "Hey, what's your name?"
Vash smiled brightly. "I am he who is a wanderer in the lonely desert. One that searches for the elusive mayfly of love. I am... Vash the Stampede!"
Wedge raised an eyebrow. "Vash, eh? I'm Wedge."
The rotund Biggs waved a hand. "Biggs."
"Jessie." Jessie said. There was soon a beeping sound, and the gate opened.
It was then that Barret came into view. He narrowed his eyes and growled. "What the hell're you doin'!? I thought I told you never to move in a group! Our target's the North Mako Reactor. We'll meet on the bridge in front of it.
Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge nodded their heads and moved on in. Vash howeverm, sat down and was breathing a bit heavilly once the other three were out of view. Barret walked up to Vash.
"Yo! This your first time in a reactor?" Barret asked.
"Yeah..." Vash answered. "All the energy being wasted into the air is bombarding my senses. I try to drown it out, but it's a big dosage of wasted energy.
Barret nodded his head. vash had warned him ahead of time about how the Mako energy was messing with him. "No surprise. The planet's full of Mako energy. People here use it everyday. It's the lifeblood of this planet. But Shinra keeps suckin' the blood out with these weird machines, killin' the planet in the process... Little by little the reactor'll drain out all the life. And that'll be that."
Vash nodded his head and stood up. "All the more reason to make sure it gets taken down for good." Vash was then walking away from the plant.
"Where the hell you goin'!?" Barret screamed.
Smiling, vash said, "I still have to bring those two MPs back to the train. I don't want them to die because they're here while the reactor exploOOOOOOOOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWWWWWWWW!!! STOP PULLING MY EAR!!!"
And so, a grumbling Barret dragged Vash into the Shinra Mako Reactor. It was something of a simple maze of metal staircases and hallways. Breaking into elevators and climing metal grids. And Vash, somehow, evading Barret to run outside with more and more unconscious MPs, until the train was practically filled. And as Vash continued thios, Barret continued to call him a, "Damn fool..."
Finally, it is Barret and Vash that make it to the center of the reactor. Walking along a cat-walk, Barret and Vash almost reach the main pressure valve for the reactor... Vash sets the bomb for ten minutes...
But then a HUGE Scorpion automation drops down from the ceiling, and lands on the area of the cat-walk between the freedom and Barret and Vash.
Barret looked synically at Vash. "Well, will you at least let me shoot THIS damned thing?"
Vash looked it over. The thing was NOT alive, and it was running on the planets energy. It wasn't even a true artifical intelligence. He would have felt if there was some sentience, even mechanical. "Go right ahead."
Barret smiled maniacally. "At @#$%in' last!!!" He laughed and began to fire upon the Gaurd Scopion...
Only to have his bullets have no effect. "Ah, @#$%!" I'm an idiot. I should have used some Lightning Mat-"
*BLAM*! *BLAM*!
Two bullets went across the cat-walk. Each bullet poked an optical sensor of the Gaurd Scorpion. The machine used it's Tail Laser, but could only attack blindly. Barret and Vash tried to move to the side of the Gaurd Scorpion's laser, and started firing upin its legs. The Gaurd Scorpion fell over the side of the cat-walk.
Smirking to himself Barret looked over at Vash and said, "Damn. You really are a good shot when you actually WANT to shoot."
Vash smiled. "Thanks for the compliment..."
It was then that Vash And Barret heard a beeping sound. Both turned around and saw that the explosive devise only had another minutes to do before it blew...
And so both men were running like bats outta hell!!!
