But soon Gene couldn't take it any more, and he sighed. "You two mind letting me in on the big secret?"
Vash's head popped up and he asked, "What secret is that?"
"Whatever it is that happened between you two. I mean, we've been here almost ten minutes, and neither of you two are talking."
"Ah just haven't had anythin' to say," Rogue commented, intent on her food.
"Oh really? Then why won't you look at each other?"
"Ah... Just don't want to, is all."
"Come on... It's like... you slept together or something."
Glaring, she brandished her fork at him. "Ah have nevah slept with Vash. I am NOT his girlfriend, significant other, or anything like that. And if you evah bring it up again, Ah'll make sure that this fork finds those buns of yours like the waitress did last night."
"Um... Okay... I got the drift," Gene replied with a wince.
"Kind of mean, wasn't that?" Vash asked around a chunk of food.
Turning her head to look at her teacher, Rogue just gave him a nasty look.
"Uh... never mind."
"Good choice."
"Okay, will you all be needin' anythin' else?" the waitress asked as she came over to them.
"Mmm..," went the ranger, "No, we're good."
"But Ah want to have some seconds!" complained Rogue.
Shrugging, Vash gave her an apologetic smile. "Sorry, but we have to get an early start. Today we do agility and avoidance training!"
"Ah am so underwhelmed."
"What 'bout you handsome?" the waitress asked Gene in a purr, "Are ya full, or do ya want... seconds?"
"Well, I wouldn't mind another helping..."
"Yeah, go ahead," the pale girl agreed, "Ah'm sure that she'll be real hands on in takin' care of you."
"That's true," replied the waitress, "I don't mind helpin' a nice strong man."
"Ah could tell. You probably try your hardest to please."
"Unlike you, you won't let yourself try it."
"But Ah am not just goin' to do it for anyone."
"Neither would I. He'd have to be... proper."
"Now that Ah would never have guessed."
"Oh, look at the time!" interrupted Vash as he grabbed Rogue's wrist, "We have to be going. Lots to do!"
"Hey! Ah still haven't gotten to finish my meal!"
"Gene'll have them pack it up for you!"
"Yeah right!"
After the teacher and student left, the waitress smiled and turned to Gene. "Hmm... What do you want to do now?"
He raised an eyebrow as he leaned back in his chair. "What do you have in mind?"
