That left a bunch of teenage girls, a sha'ir, and some misconceptions. Shake well.
"I can feel their power," said Khatraa, her eyes narrowing. "They've changed their frequencies. Their auras are off. If I didn't know better I'd think they were just normal girls but no - their power denotes them as being far more."
The Djinni of the Ring nodded. "I do not sense a Master, but their power is great somehow."
"Then it will be all the greater when they have accepted me as their Master," said Khatraa. Her plans were quite simple. Capture one and use the magical procedures she had perfected over the last dozen of her conquests. Once their name was stolen, their memories of freedom would fade. Then it was merely a matter of breaking them to her authority.
Khatraa had gained several powerful but very limited djinni in this manner. There was not a single "all powerful" genie in the batch, but by commanding their powers she was able to do many things. The Djinni Of The Ring was one of the more powerful and more recent conquests. Her powers were mainly of Space. She could fold space to create doorways that spanned continents, and she could manipulate the curvature of space so as to affect gravity.
The Djinni Of Gold was a moderately powerful dao of the Earth, but there had been a problem in the taking of his identity. Too much had been taken and now his mind was gone. Still, Khatraa could command his powers but had to be very detailed in her instructions. Punishing the Djinni whose cage was her golden brooch produced no results, he would not even whimper in protest.
Khatraa only had a half dozen with her, and chose the Djinni of Wood to summon. The djinni had once been a nature spirit, but caught and brought to heel nonetheless. "You shall possess that tree and subdue the first one to pass under its branches, then bring the djinni to me."
