Ranma's tactic of beating the tarp out of the clowns proved completely ineffective. No matter how hard he pounded them to the ground, they simply sprang up; in fact, it seemed that the harder he hit the faster they bounced back.
Grabbing a spritzer and sozzling down their pants, however, threw them into a comedic routine of running about to point out how wet their ludicrously oversized pants were, and ignoring him completely. It also stopped them from chasing the few remaining untransformed shoppers. This would have given Ranma a breather to come up with a more permanant counter before they recovered. That is, if interferring with the minions hadn't brought out the ring leader with the heavy artilery.
Keeping with the general theme of thing, that ring leader was, in fact, dressed as a circus ring leader, albeit one carrying a bazooka. However, it did fire cream pies. A fact which Ranma immediately discovered.
SPLUT!
"What the...?" Ranma demanded as he got a faceful of pie. "Mmm... it's lemon flavoured? My favourite! How do you expect to stop me with mmm... rich creamy filling?"
These proved to be famous last words, as he immediately toppled over. Cherry cream pies did make an effective weapon, when filled with curare.
"Alright, you clowns," the Ring Leader ordered, "stop fooling around and start collecting the exhibits for my pet circus! Bwahahah! Nothing can stop me now!"
