What interested her were those who would prey upon those 'honest' citizens. It was those would hurt or steal from people for their own profit or pleasure. They were individuals who would disturb the piece of things without concern for others. Someone had to stop them, and make certain that those who were innocent were protected.
That was her cause. She stood up on the rooftop, watching for anything that might catch her attention. Her body was clad in skintight body armor, so that it protected her body from enemy blows, and the elements alike. The mask she wore protected both her face and identity, while allowing her hair to flow free. But it was with her skills that she would protected the ones in trouble.
Like the person that she heard screaming at that moment.
Leaping from the rooftop, she snagged a flagpole and twirled upon it, using it to change her direction. Then she bounced off a scaffolding and into the alleyway next to it.
Right in front of the woman being threatened by a quartet of thugs.
"What the heck is this?!" asked one at the sight of a shapely woman in what looked like black leather jumping into the midst of the group.
"Who cares Jiro? All it means that we got another bitch ta play with," commented a second.
"Right Akira."
"That's fine," said a third, "But we gotta get her."
"Then go get her Yashiro!" yelled the fourth.
"Sure thing Boss!"
"You really don't want to do that," commented the woman in black softly.
"Yeah right!" declared Yashiro as he ran to take a swing at her. She just stood there until he tried to hit her, and then dodged the attack and punched him in the head. When he staggered from that, she went into a spin kick that knocked him out.
Jiro snarled at her at charged, but she ducked under his attack and crouched so that she could sweep his feet out from under him. As he hit the ground, she used her hands to bounce up and dropped a kick to his gut before sending another into his face. The unnamed one attacked her, but she grabbed him and held him before her so that he took the blow that he sent her way. Showing the nameless man away from herself, she elbowed him in the face, knocking him out before he fell.
Then she turned to Akira, who glared at her. Before he could do anything, she sent a series of punches and kicks into his head, using one last spin kick to send him tumbling into a pile of garbage.
That left 'Boss' all alone. The rest of his little group was knocked out, and he was facing the woman who had done it. His hands fisted at his sides from the anger and frustration. She had taken his gang out all by herself, and he was the only one that she hadn't managed to knock out.
He ran full tilt at her, and she seemingly ran from him. But she ran to a wall, taking a few steps on it and using it to launch herself into a flip over him. By the time he could turn around, she had already landed, and was sending a punch his way. The uppercut sent him slamming into the wall, and dropped him like a bag of stones.
Turning away from him, the woman in black walked over to the woman who had been in the process of being attacked. "Are you okay?"
"I... I... think so..," the would-be victim replied.
"Then I would suggest that you take this as a lesson and learn from it."
"I... I will," the woman said... to thin air. The other woman had vanished without a trace, leaving her alone with the knocked out thugs.
In her bedroom at the Tendo Dojo, Kasumi Tendo pulled off her mask and put her hair into its 'customary' ponytail. It had been another night of activity, but she didn't care. There were people out there who needed her, and she wasn't about to leave them, even if it meant that it could cause her great troubles.
However, she knew that she couldn't let anyone know what she was doing either. That would cause too many problems, and she didn't want to do that at all. Which meant that she had to sneak around, and make excuses, despite whatever she might want to do.
Still, she had to get to sleep soon so that she could wake up in time to make breakfast. Changing into her nightshirt, she slipped her body armor into its hiding space, and climbed into bed. She went to sleep, satisfied with the night's work while:
