Which was why Akane was sure that she was going to meet it. She didn't want to, but she knew that it would. And it didn't disappoint.
The tree trunks that had been swaying a moment earlier now bent out of the way as a massive head came from between them, and looked in the direction of the velociraptors, triceratops and the two humans. It sniffed a bit and then rumbled a bit... before letting out a massive roar.
Going into defensive postures, the raptors screeched their defiance at the newcomer.
Not that it appreciated such, as the tyrannosaurus stomped over to them and lowered its head to bellow at them again. That got the raptors snapping at it, darting in for quick snipes at the much larger beast.
To which the T-rex responed by snapping its teeth over the torso of a velociraptor.
Akane and Ryouga winced and looked away at the sight of what it did next, but the quick few chomping sounds told the story clearly enough.
For their part, the velociraptors didn't enjoy the fate of their comrade as much as the humans had, and began to strike in earnest. Unfortunately, they were much too small to do much damage, even acting in concert, and the T-rex lowered its head and used its snout to smack away a pair of the raptors. A third was trapped under its foot, as the massive carnivore let out an angry roar.
Watching this, the humans, while glad for the 'assist', wondered if they were really better off. As the raptor pack got decimated, they saw that:
