China, birthplace of the martial arts, land of epic legends such as the Hoshin Engi and the Saiyuki, the perfect place to train Ranma in his new role as an epic martial artist/hero ! Genma congratulated himself for his ingeniosity. Surely they would find powerful techniques there.
With genie Neptune's help, they had easily crossed the sea of Japan (unfortunately the girls kept him from training Ranma in the Oceanborn technique, such a waste). A stop at a nice shop in Shangai had procured a manual detailing many training grounds and martial arts schools.
Once again, things hadn't gone exactly as planned for Genma Saotome. The damn little girls had united in her efforts to make his life difficult. They had stolen the manual, read it and forcefully altered Genma's carefully planned training trip under the pretense that he couldn't read chinese ! Well, it was true but that wasn't important... Genma grumbled, thinking of all those great training grounds like Jusenkyo they wouldn't visit.
At least, he wasn't coddled too much. Uranus, understanding the need of her master to be able to fight, had become a harsh and unforgiving training partner. Saturn healed him regularly, allowing Ranma to train harder. She also kept them fed (definitely a good point in the Saotomes' opinion). Neptune worked on Ranma's tactical skills and education, the latter much to genma's chagrin. Ranma went along with this because it was more practical to read those nifty martial arts scrolls himself.
Genma also trained the genie girls in martial arts and teamwork (supposedly to keep them from being liabilities to Ranma in a fight). Each of the girls had found a prefered weapon to train in : Uranus had her trusty scimitar, Saturn adopted the Glaive and Neptune favored the war fan.
Seeing his son's rapid progress, Genma wondered if he should teach Ranma his secret arts, the Yama Sen Ken and the Umi Sen Ken. Maybe later, he wasn't ready for this yet.
