"You must be mistaken," Genma told her condesendingly.
"Oh really? You two were the ones who came across the traditional German fare put out for the populace and ran through it, grabbing every bit of food on sight!"
"I don't remember doing anything like that," stated Soun with great bravado, "And if I did, I'm sure that you would remember it."
"You were seen by many patrons and workers, German and Japanese alike."
"Then they must have been seeing things, as we never took anything from any such place."
"You were caught sitting on kegs, and eating brautwurst!"
The Tendo patriarch frowned. "I'm not sure that I follow her, Saotome."
"Neither do I Tendo," agreed Genma, "but I did enjoy a nice sausage, don't you."
"Certainly. I can remember that one time as we sat in the woods, eating some and having a drink without having you know who bother us."
"Those were the days. That festival gave us all that to eat and we did not have to share with anyone save each other."
"And where would this 'festival' be?" asked Asuka.
"It was somewhere south of of Osaka, wasn't it?"
Soun nodded. "Yes, near Kainan I believe."
Everyone stared at the two dimwitted dads before Genma spoke up. "What is it?"
Twirling a cracker with her fingers, Nabiki smirked. "That's where Wakayama is."
"Oh... so it is."
Rubbing her temples, Asuka tried to keep from screaming. "ANY-way, when one of the men found you two, you gave him a sob story about being tortured and starved by some cruel Master, and he believed you. But since he still wanted you to face up to what you had done, Mister Saotome told him that he was a good man, and that he would be happy to have a child of his wed to someone so upright and kind."
"Oh... I think I remember that fellow. Nice enough man, allowing two starving martial artists to have a few meager crumbs to stave off their hunger."
"He let you eat, and he was my father. You told him that to thank him for saving your life twice over, both in food and protection from the mob, you would be honored if a child from a such a noble man married your child. And so, here I am, seeking Ranma Saotome."
"Hmmm... So that happened during the training trip," mused Nabiki.
"Yes, that's what they told him they were doing, and I wasn't sure to what to expect because of that. But I do have to say, being chained up not withstanding, I could definately do worse, much worse indeed. Handsome and well built... nice..."
