"But it seemed like she kept on hurting all the time," protested Kitsune.
The Amazon Elder smiled benevlolently at the girl. "Many births are like that. It is why it is called being 'in labor'."
"So if lots of women go through it, why did Auntie Nabiki yell so much?"
That got a chuckle. "While she has been roughing it since she came here, she is still not quite up to dealing with lots of pain."
"There's pain when you do it?" the redhead asked and wrinkled her nose.
"Yes, and this was her first child, so it was a little more difficult."
"If it hurts that much, I'm not having any when I grow up."
"Don't worry dear," Cologne told her with a laugh, "When you get older, you might find that you want to have them, even with the pain."
"Why?"
"Because of what comes after it, when you hold your child for the first time."
"If you say so..," Kitsune replied dubiously.
"Trust me. Besides, you are a martial artist."
"That does something?"
"But of course. Being more healthy and able to bear more pain can only help. And I can teach you techniques that will help you when the time comes."
"Now?"
"Not now, and not for a long time yet."
"So can we go see her?" asked Aoshi as he came over.
"Give them a little time, and then take care not to disturb them too much child."
"Okay Elder. But why couldn't she have a boy?"
"What's wrong with a girl?" asked his sister.
"Nothing. But there are three of them already and two guys," the boy complained, "And now there's four of them."
As the girl glared inidignantly at her brother, Cologne watched in amusment while:
