Statue of Miao Nyan Mew : Planner's Chaos [Episode 64470]

by Kender

There were unwritten rules amongst the personnel of NERV that they had come up with through silent agreement, some of which had to deal with the Commander. One simply made sure to stay out of the way of the head of the organization unless one was forced to. If they had to deal with him, it was best to keep the meeting as concise as possible, and without any attempt to draw attention to one's self. And if his stony look changed, it would be best to seek a task that took one safely away, like to the front lines of a battle.

Having him visibly agitated was not something that any of the subordinates liked, and it was every person for themself.

Which didn't help Junko much as he gave the technician a flat glare. "Repeat what you just said."

Gulping slightly, she tried her best to look professional. "It seems that whatever is affecting Melchior has spread to Balthasar."

"And you know this how?"

"Because it has taken to calling all operators 'idiots' while racing virtual light cycles."

"I see... Why has it gone that far?"

"Due to security and design issues, there is only one person really qualified to repair the system," she told him, "That is Doctor Akagi."

"What is the running theory?"

"Ours or theirs?" asked Seele-7.

"Both."

"They think that we are to blame, but we are in the dark about this as much as they are."

"It could be the Angels, however remote the possibility," suggested Seele-11.

"But what would they have to gain from this... mess? It doesn't fit anything in the Scrolls, or the previous encounters with them."

"But who else could have the power necessary to to something like this? We know that there is no one that could hide this level of ability from us."

"It could just be some freak occurence," put in Seele-5, "some variable that was introduced during one of the battles."

"Whatever it is, it can not be allowed to continue," growled Seele-2, "We can not allow someone to cause havoc while we are so close to the end of the Project."

"True," inserted Keele, "But until we know more, our options are... limited."

With his words, a pall hung over the desk while:
