To Akane, who had grown up in this house and that dojo, it had been noticeable first as an odd feeling of things not being right. When it came down to detailing them, however, the list rapidly began to grow and show something unpleasant.
Akane was not the most observant of folk, yet the nagging feeling of wrongness caused her to observe more carefully than was her wont.
The tiles on the roof of the dojo were the wrong shade. Even more noticeable was the difference on the house itself.
Those scratches made along the doorframe as the Tendo girls had grown up. They weren't there and the wood was of a different type than the rest of the frame.
The ornamental stones around the koi pond were of a different color and grain. They were placed differently too.
The grass in the backyard was thicker and covered more of the lawn than it had. Even the grass itself looked subtly different - a thicker stem and leaf than she was used to seeing.
Odd details, but Akane didn't realize yet that this was the Tendo Dojo but it was:
