Usagi and Ranma glanced at one-another quizically.
Kurumi obligingly smacked both of them in the back of the head. "The original big-sister!" she clarified, pointing at the mob.
"Oh, right," Ranma mumbled, slightly embarassed at considering herself a 'sister' of Kurumi.
"Let's go help her out!" Usagi exclaimed, seeming to forget where she was. She dashed along the current rooftop, only to remember at the last instant and come to a screeching halt at the very edge of the roof.
"Right," Ranma and Kurumi seconded, sweeping into action. Ranma hoisted Usagi effortlessly over her shoulder, the blonde shreiking again the moment she was airborne, but this time quickly collecting herself.
In short order, they arrived at one edge of the crowd that completely covered Natsume. The crowd, of course, heard them coming thanks to Usagi, who found herself set on the ground behind Ranma and Kurumi.
"Hands off my sister!" Kurumi said fearfully, looking at the dozens of massed attackers in the area. "What'd she ever do to you?"
Behind Ranma and Kurumi, Usagi found the bags that Natsume had dropped, and began to round them up.
Ranma stepped to Kurumi's side, and said, "Yeah, what's the deal here?"
"You are different," one, or perhaps several voices from the crowd said together. "You are also not part of the collective. Prepare to be grown into our own image, your flaws bred out, your strengths added to our own purity."
Ranma and Kurumi blinked blankly, as the crowd separated to reveal Natsume.
The girl was currently encased in a translucent cocoon sitting in the middle of the clearing, aparently unconscious, and not moving. In an identical cocoon next to her was... another Natusme.
"Um... this just got really weird... and kinda creepy," Ranma said, trying to come up with a backup plan.
"She doesn't usually run around naked, so the one with clothes."
Usagi and Kurumi yelped. "What!?"
"Aw, come on! There's only like fifty of 'em!"
"You know, that never creeped me out as much as it does now."
