Furries 4 U: another satisifed... [Episode 7126]

(AN: since the evil wizard thing is also a bit over-represented, again i wanted to try some other interp & see what anyone thought.)
Furries 4 U
Matching quality pets to quality owners since 1871.

Unlike most of the stores typically found in this sort of environment, Furries 4 U had a little different view of their merchandise and their customers.

Oh, there were a couple of clerks who were basically interchangeable with the sort of Wizard who'd work at Spells R Us and similar venues. The management merely looked the other way for the most part.

One of those clerks reached the end of his shift and another clerk took the post.

Marilyn Reeves was definitely a company girl. She believed in the product. There were so many unhappy people in the world and so many lonely souls.

Well, one minute in the back room could fix that!

Marilyn dearly loved her own furry - a dogboy named Sparky. Sparky loved her back.

There were always people unhappy with their lot in life, some of whom would wander in the door and find love or find that their inner fantasies could come to life. Why be a drudge worker in a dreary existence when you could be a beautiful and exotic mermaid?

Unfortunately times had changed and everything got tracked. A mermaid out in the ocean would be prodded and poked and worse. A privately owned mermaid only required a generic "just part of the background" spell and nobody thought anything about it.

It wouldn't do to have the pets worked to the bone, or eaten (shudder), or have some other dire fate inflicted upon them. Pets were there to be friends and to be loved and perform useful services like Sparky guarding her home and he was a pretty good cook too.

Wasn't that better than a prison, or worse - what the Needful Things shop would do?

It was amazing, once you stripped off the cultural conditioning and other artificial standards, how many people really didn't need independence or other false values. How free was the average Japanese sarariman? How much control over their own life did the average factory worker exert? A life of love and play and cuddling didn't sound that bad once you got the silly preconceptions out of the way.

No, a little magic, a little matchmaking, and Marilyn felt she was making a positive difference in the world. Life was so much better with love involved. After all, in the grand scheme of things, didn't having a beloved pet make things a lot easier?

So when the bell tinkled to indicate someone entering, there was no evil smirk and plans on how to turn the new customer into merchandise forming. Marilyn merely smiled and bowed (remembering that this was Japan and such things were expected) and greeted the newest customer. She hoped she'd be able to find this newcomer a really good pet or (if things turned out that way) a good owner.

As it was, the person wandering in was:
