Elfguest: Tokyo demon night [Episode 71771]

by Kestral

The yochlolth was a stalagmite of constantly shifting ooze decorated by three eyes and eight tentacles.

It was also quite Evil. It was literally a demon from the Abyss. It was born, steeped, raised in an environment that was Evil.

It viewed the shortlived creatures of this world, humans, as being less than worms though occasionally useful and/or tasty.

The chase for elves though had been put aside. Within this building was someone with a spark of divine heritage. What a tasty soul he would turn out to have.

"I was afraid that my visit to Tokyo would be boring. How nice of you to provide some sport, Motoko."

"What the hell is THAT?! Besides nearly terminally disgusting, I mean."

"Back, Mitsune. That happens to be a demon, and a powerful one at that."

The yochlolth blinked. Okay, this world had humans who were a bit less psychically dead as she had originally thought. "Give me that male, that I may feast on the light of his soul, and I will make your deaths painless," offered the yochlolth. That he would be betrayed by his loved ones would make his agonies all the more delicious.

"Urashima, what have you done that has demons coming after you?"

A flying turtle circled the group.

"Glad I was packing this baby," said a young girl as she put some sort of hollow stave over her shoulder and pointed one end at the demon.

"If you hand over the elves, I may even leave some of you morsels alive," said the yochlolth hopefully.

"'Elves'," repeated a young female of the group. "Oooh. I want to see elves!"

"Well, I can't show you elves," said one woman, a bird flying off her shoulder as she unsheathed a blade. "I can show you this though. Evil Cutting Strike, third form!"

"Demon Cutting Sword," called out the second sword wielder.

"Su Bazooka Barrage," announced the tube-wielder.

The blasts hit and to the surprise of the yochlolth, HURT.

"It's still alive!" "Time to reload!" "Don't let it get away!"

The yochlolth switched to the faster monster-spider form and scrambled over the house and away. A side trip to get snacks was one thing. Getting into major battles while not accomplishing the primary mission? Not recommended.

Going over a few houses and buildings, she decided she'd outdistanced them. She'd have to come back with a few minions.

"There! That's the evil I detected!" "Ewwww gross! I hate spiders!"

The yochlolth stared. Two paladins? Here? One carrying a soulsword?!

"I, Yohko Mano, of the 108th generation of devilhunters... hey come back here!"

Silently the yochlolth replied "no way" to that demand. What had she wandered into - a city of humans dedicated to combining magical and martial arts?!

"Umi! Fuu!"

"I see it, Hikaru! It must have escaped from Cephiro or something!"

"Flame... ARROW!"

Tripling its speed and shimmying up the tall structure it had just reached, the yochlolth increased the number of minions and added that it had to warn the Dark Mistress that this was not a good place for her kind. That had looked like a simple Fire Arrow spell but it had HURT like something of a considerably higher level. Not only were these humans all trained in magic and fighting, they were tricky!

Ah! There! Some humans that were running from it instead of attacking! Now she could get some answers!

"Heh heh heh. Going somewhere?"

The yochlolth shrieked. The male human before her practically reeked of ARCHDEMON level power, though diluted. Again she fled, using her ability to stick to surfaces, throw weblines, and sidestep distances in order to outdistance the human.

Okay, maybe "pushover" wasn't a good phrase for humans of this world.

"There it is! Moon Tiara Attack!" "Bubble Spray!" "Fire Soul!"

Leap. Dodge. Duck. Jump. Mad scramble. Yup. This world might just be a little too much for her. Another couple of dimension doors to get away from this latest batch. Ahh. A fence topped with a layer of barbed steel whiplike material. Over that, across the waterway, into the compound. Obviously these protections were to safeguard more vulnerable humans.

"Damn! Tokyo does have monsters!" "What's next, Godzilla?" "We're in Japan- Gojira is the way the natives say it."

The yochlolth hissed again. More humans, all of these wearing clothes in similar colors and with odd vehicles of similar coloration. What did this mean.

Bang

Some kind of sling bullet slammed into her head hard enough to daze her. What was this now?

"It's bulletproof?! Bring in the tanks!"

The yochlolth wondered what was a tank when large metal wagons with large tubes began moving towards her. Still, they didn't have any magic, and other than stings - their sling-tubes couldn't really hurt her.

BOOM!

Picking herself up, the yochlolth appended that. That had hurt.

"It's regenerating!"

The yochlolth leapt over the slower tanks, and headed for the pitiful humans who were harassing it. This was enough, damn them! Now they were throwing rocks at her!

BOOM!

Picking herself up again, the yochlolth decided that one tank was entirely too good at tagging her. Time to make an example out of them.

"Normal grenades ineffective, switching to WP."

Rocking one of the tanks, the yochlolth saw more of the rocks being thrown. Idiots. Flames couldn't hurt her.

The grenade exploded and again the yochlolth screamed. The rock had exploded like a small sunlet and where some of its material went was burning her like holy water!

Again the yochlolth fled, not liking this world at all.

"I wish that the dread Master would never again inflict us with his presence," wished Genma.

"Brilliant Saotome," agreed Soun as the card flared and re-inserted itself into the deck. "Free of the Master at last! No longer will we have to look over our shoulder."

Suddenly, in the lair he'd made in the drow city, Happosai realized he knew how to get home. Naturally he couldn't leave his load of treasures behind. It was odd, he knew exactly where his two bumbling students were. They'd never be free of his presence now.

"For my second draw," said Genma, reaching for the deck, "and the uniting of the schools."
