Then it hit him! He was in America. He and Logan had been attacked by Magneto! And he'd used some force, a power he'd never used before to defeat ole' buckethead. He sat up. Something didn't feel right!
" Well, the sleeper awakes." said an amused cultured voice. " Hmm. If I remember my japanese..."
" Don't bother on my account." interrupted Ranma in perfect if slightly accented english, not phased by speaking with a blue furred ape-man in casual cloathes and spectacles.
" That's a refreshing change, most people don't react too well to my appearance! I'm Hank Mc Coy, Beast to my freinds, at your service." said the blue guy with a mock courtly bow.
" Ranma Saotome an' I've seen weirder. Where am I?" replied Mystiques son.
" Oh yes! Sorry about that. You're in the infirmary beneath Xaviers' Institute for Gifted Youngsters where you've slept for an entire twenty four hours." supplied Beast in a concilitary tone.
Ranma relaxed somewhat and stretched his back and arms. He stopped to stare in suprise. His were more muscular, seemed longer (but not out of proportion?) and marked with strange blue lines, following his meridians mostly he noted.
Beast had taken note of Ranmas shock even though he was puttering about with various medical apparatus.
" Is there something wrong?" asked Mc Coy.
" Yeah. I couldn't place it at first, but, my muscles are larger and more developed. My arms reach is greater but not out of proportion. Meaning I'm taller, larger." explained Ranma " Damn, my centre of gravity an' everything'll be different."
" Is that a problem?" inquired Beast not quite understanding Ranmas vehemence about the change.
" Yep. I'm a martial artist, Anything Goes School of Martial Arts. My skills depend on KNOWING what my body can do. I'll have to adapt all my skills to my new body, again." said Ranma in a calmer fashion.
" Ah, I see. If you'll excuse me a moment I'll inform Professor Xavier and the others you're awake."
" Sure." replied Ranma flexing and shifting his arms experimentally " No problem."
Beast raised a telephone handset to his ear a dialed a number.
Xavier was at a desk in his den/office setting down his morning coffee when the phone on the desk rang.
" Yes?"
" Oh, he's awake."
" How'd he react to your appearance?"
" Oh really? He didn't mind at all?"
Thus went half of Xaviers conversation.
Once he hung up the phone Xavier smiled. This was good news. The abnormal appearance of Beast didn't bother Ranma. That meant he would probably be okay with other inhuman looking mutants, like Nightcrawler. It seemed Ranmas' only complaint thus far was having to adapt years of martial arts training to accomodate his enhanced body. A tame reaction for discovering one is a mutant.
Xavier made his way to the elevator so he could inform the other instructors and the students that Ranma would be amoung them shortly.
