Shinji sighed. "Misato? I wish that you would tell me why you act like you have no free will?"
The purpule garbed genie's eyes glowed and she repiled, "I didn't want to do anything that might upset you, Master. This is my second chance and I don't want to mess it up. You did give that order to act like we normally would, and..."
Shinji shook his head, "So you act like a near robot with regards to wishes. Misato, please use some of your own initative. I can't predict everything that is going to happen. All three of you need to do what it takes to keep your transformation secret. That command overrules the earlier one about acting normal. Although, I have the feeling that acting normal will be part of it. Is that clear?"
In unison, the three genies replied, "Yes, Master."
Shinji nodded and took a deep breath. "The threee of you need to 'eat', and the only way is for me to make wishes or give you commands. But, you all have the same powers."
Rei raised her head and spoke. "Actually, Master Shinji. That is not true. I think each of us had a unique ability."
Shinji said, "Starting from left to right, I wish that each of you would tell me your unique abilites."
The three genies glowed as they felt the wish compel them.
Rei said, "I turn into blue smoke and flow into the sapphire on your ring. I can tell what is needed to keep us sane and whole. Sort of like the user manual and diagnostic machine."
Misato said, "I turn into lavender smoke and am stored in the amethyst on your ring. I can understand all animal languages and human languages. A superior translator."
Asuka said, "I turn into red smoke and live in the ruby on your ring. My senses can be enhanced at my whim. Er...."
Asuka bit her lower lip and shook her head.
Shinji knelt down and looked Asuka in the eye. "Is there something wrong?"
Asuka bowed her head. "No, Master. Until you made that wish, I didn't know I could do these things. I can do anything that detects stuff. Radar, Donar, Low-lite vision, the works.
Rei looked over to her red garbed 'sister'. "What Genie Asuka means, Master Shinji, is that she is walking sensor array."
Shnji stood up and put a hand on Asuka's shoulder. The genie girl shivered a bit at being in contact with her master.
"It would have been nice to have known that sooner, but that was my fault, not yours."
Removing his hand, Shinji clasped both hands behind his back and started pacing.
"Do you have any suggestions?" Shinji asked.
Mistao said, "Master, when you use the telepathy, please call us by our genie names. If you don't know or forgot, our genie names are the same as the gem we are bound in."
Shinji sent, 'I will try to do so. That way, it'll be less likely a slip up will be made.'
Shinji looked up at the ceiling and sighed heavily. "I really wish we had some way to hack into the MAGI and find out what's really going on."
The eyes of his genies glowed as they granted the wish. A strange metal box appeared on the floor in front of Shinji. On one side, it had three cables leading from it. Each a different color: red, blue, & purpule. On the other side it had a single grey telephone cable leading from it. The other two sides had ports that looked like they could connect up to a computer.
Pointing at the box, Shinji asked, "What is this?"
Rei answered, "We're not strong enough to grant the wish of creating something that can hack into the MAGI. We have to use our own abilites. That box will allow us to do so."
Shinji opened his mout to say something and then stopped. He frowned and looked at Rei.
"Rei, what would happen if you were freed from being a genie? Or wished free?"
Rei replied, "The transformation that was done to us, altered us heavily. After a while, we might be able to turn ourselves back into humans, if someone wished it. At the moment, we need a master. Without granting wishes or having a container to recharge, we would fade into mist due to starvation."
"After a while?" Shinji asked. "How long?"
Rei shrugged. "That depends on how hard you train us to use our powers."
"I see," Shinji said. "Now about this box......"
Misato replied, "It's sort of an O/S converter and firewall. We attach three monitors to the sides. Connect the phone cord to any ordinary phone jack and we're ready to begin hacking."
"What about the other three cords?" Shinji asked.
Asuka blushed. "They plug into our belly buttons. Amethyst's language ability becomes high powered code breaking. I act as a detection system. Sapphire acts like a virus buster. The box will store any information we retrieve for later viewing. The monitors allow you to watch us while we're acting like a super-computer."
"Ah."
