"I'm pretty sure this would not be legally binding in Japan," commented Ami.
"Drats," said Minako, snapping her fingers. Not that she was inclined to share when it came to husbands and such, but a bird in the hand was worth three coins in the fountain!
"So where are we?" Makoto asked.
"The temple of Sune Firehair in Waterdeep," said an acolyte. "Ah, here's your guide."
The humans and the drow looked over their guide. The guide looked over them in return.
"(I don't suppose you have any idea how we got here or why we ended up in something vaguely like a wedding ceremony with our Master, do you?)" asked Unri of the newcomer hopefully.
"(Slavery is illegal though practiced undercover in Waterdeep, if you wish to escape your Master now is the time to say something,)" said the newcomer.
"(My only objection to having studboy here as a Master is that we haven't gotten laid,)" complained Unri. "(He seems a lot nicer than what we ran into back in the Underdark.)"
"(Some humans are,)" acknowledged the drow.
Ranma and company tried to communicate they didn't speak Elvish. Or Common for that matter. The acolyte had only been able to speak to them through a pendant enchanted with a Tongues spell.
The guide ended up talking to the acolyte, who could relay to the humans.
"If you follow her, she can lead you to the Promenade. It is much safer there for your two friends. Many on the surface remember the majority of their race and not appreciating the beauty they possess," said the acolyte.
"Good one, Saotome," admitted Soun. "Now the two houses are joined and our retirements are secured."
"Yes, and that still leaves me one more draw," agreed Genma. With a deft gesture he drew:
