If they had been making out in the water, it could have produced all that racket, but then they should have started swimming back to shore. And there was nothing to indicate swimming. There was movement, but it was far too large and too deep for a person, maybe a school of fish.
Considering their state of inebriation it was possible that they were drowning about now and that was what was encouraging Nabiki to put on the speed now.
She picked up the first trace of blood as she closed on the position, but by then she was already going as fast as she was able and couldn't put on any more speed.
Certainly something was injured, a human by the smell, and injured badly. As she drew closer, the quantity of blood only increased. With this much blood in the water, somebody had died. And drowning didn't make you bleed.
There were no electrical impulses or sounds to indicate a boat in the area. Only a few fish, dreadfully clear of fish, actually.
She followed the smell of blood, down and around in circles until she came to the first body part.
"Another shark," she thought grimmly. There were other dangerous fish in the ocean, but she figured a shark would be the most likely.
She circled around a few more times, searching and feeling about for any sign of what had done this. And then she shifted forms, letting her fins and tail form again into arms and legs as she gathered up the remains as she found them.
Somebody was going to have to be notified about this.
A few minutes later, with what little she could find that remained of the victim, she stepped onto the beach, her clothes forming around her out of her skin. She glanced, with a disgusted snort, at the unconscious form of the young man on the beach.
She got set the bloody stumps and remains of "Chrissy" to the side, not entirely comfortable with handling them, even after some six years as a shark herself. And...
