Everyone was surprised to see that it was Kodachi Kuno, who had dropped a bundle of black roses and was now staring at Ranma with hands clenched in front of her.
"How beautiful," said Kodachi again.
Ranma snorted. *What do you want, Kodachi?*
"You spoke, in my mind?" Kodachi felt her head. "Just like in those McCaffrey novels!"
*I dunno about some novels,* sent Ranma. *It's difficult to talk like this but ya gotta admit that this mouth ain't built to handle Japanese.*
"Well, I can see where that would be the case," agreed Nabiki, bemused by all this. "So Ranma turning into a dragon doesn't upset you?"
"That's Ranma?" Kodachi seemed quite surprised.
*Great going, Nabiki. I'm surprised you didn't charge for that information.*
Nabiki winced as she realized she had indeed neglected the money angle, indicating she was more rattled than she'd thought.
"Magnificent," said Kodachi after leaping down and circling the changed Ranma. "Is there some means of this enchantment that I might use it myself?"
"You want to be a monster?" asked Akane, hardly believing this even of Kodachi.
"No," admitted Kodachi. "Yet to be a dragon, an elemental force made manifest? A symbol of power and nobility. A creature that is free of the fetters of the earth and can soar amongst the heavens. That I may confess to some envy over."
Ranma blinked as he realized this was probably the most sane speech he'd heard coming from any member of the Kuno family.
