Moon prince: A change in leadership [Episode 7745]

by Jamil Nate

History rewrote itself to include Ranma Saotome in the Silver Millenium. The results were not pretty.

A young queen Serenity fell in love with the Earth Kingdom's embassador. Their secret affair had resulted in a child, a boy she named Ran. Then Ran's father was recalled to Earth but died on the way there in an accident. Serenity decided to recognise him officially as her son and raised him as the Moon Kingdom's prince. The problem was that his terran heritage was obvious to all : he was more emotional, rebellious and prone to question the Status Quo than a normal Moon Kingdom native. Add to this that he couldn't be purified by the Ginzuishou for some unknown reason.

Ranma had been interested in fighting since he was born. He underwent guard training but was unsatisfied by it. He needed more. Soon he explored the Kingdom's archives from before the ginzuishou, when peace had to be enforced by strength of arms. He found documents detailing how men could fight unarmed and win, techniques the Sailor Senshi still practiced in a watered-down way.Ranma tried to recreate those skills of old on his own, much to the horror of the Palace's residents. Still, Queen Serenity said nothing, she was sure it was only a phase her son was going through. Sooner or later, he would tire of this unseemly pastime and become a proper prince.

Things got worse when little Serenity, Ranma's sister, was born. He was there when Neherenia appeared and cursed his sister and the Moon Kingdom to destruction. He lost all faith he ever had in the Sailor Senshi's capabilities that day. So he appointed himself as Serenity's protector. He convinced his mother to let him travel in the solar system under the pretense of getting to know the Moon Kingdom better. The true reason was to search for more lost fighting techniques mentioned in the archives : the dark templars of Mars' psychic arts, Jupiter's mana knights' elemental fighting, Pluto's temporal warriors' time abilities...

He found them all and more. He fought on the frontier, disguised as a mercenary called Onyx, gaining true battle experience. He went to Earth, learned from the masters of the martial arts there and grew famous as a warrior prodigy. He clashed with Endymion's guardians but teached them humility. He was easily the solar system's most powerful and skilled fighter. He even challenged and defeated every senshi under his Onyx persona (so they would go all out).

Finally, he returned to the Moon Palace after all these years of absence. He went directly to the Queen, telling her of his accomplishments and asked to be the princess' bodyguard, the Senshi being incompetent in that duty. Naturally, Queen Serenity refused his request. Peace was ensured by the ginzuishou, Ran for all his powers wasn't a mage and his duties as prince of the Moon Kingdom were elsewhere.

Ran was once again the moon prince, a position he hated now more than ever. He had grown into a tall, handsome and commanding figure, attracting the attention of all single women in the kingdom, the senshi among them. Queen Serenity seriously thought of arranging her son's marriage, hoping a woman's love would mellow her reckless son's behavior. But for that to happen, Ran's future wife needed to be as strong and willfull as he : only the sailor senshi fitted that description. Many of them tried to seduce the prince over the following years.

Then the fateful ball came. Beryl and the Dark Kingdom attacked. Ran fought and killed the seven shadows himself at the cost of his life, allowing his mother to cast her spell of reincarnation and send the ginzuishou to the future in one piece.

Serenity wished her son to have a life according to his desires next time, which explained why Ranma Saotome, Ran's reincarnation, lived an 'interesting' life so to speak.

Now, Sailor Pluto had found the moon prince. And Ranma Saotome seemed to be in the process of awakening his old memories because of that meeting. According to Moon Kingdom law, he was now the senshi's leader until Usagi became an adult. *Now what ?* thought Setsuna.
