Ranma Jonathan Diggers: That Good Ol' School Daze [Episode 77741]

by Proteus

Sitting on the couch and eating a bowl of popcorn beside her while the television was running a very interesting piece about the habits of South American tree frogs, Gina Diggers looked away front the television set and moved her attention to the notebook in her lap long enough to mentally divide 24 into 2348798 to the second decimal point and rounded down. Tonight was a slow night for her, just calculus homework and a little on the side studying for that second PhD she was shooting for.

Then, all of a sudden at that moment, something amazing happened. Right in the space between her and the television the very laws of space and time suddenly became null and void as a rift in the space-time continuum tore its way into her parent's living room and revealed an entire dimension to her eyes before depositing one of its inhabitants before he collapsed on the floor. then just like that the dimensional portal winked out of existence.

However, instead of crying over the lost scientific knowledge or anything like that, Gina simply looked down at the blond haired teenager laying on the floor in front of the screen with her lips pressed together in thought and annoyance. Why couldn’t he ever land in his room? "Grandma still running you ragged huh?" she asked her motionless brother on the floor.

"Muh," Ranma replied in incoherent fashion with his face in the carpet, unable to lift himself up or form coherent words.

'What in the hell did I get myself into?' Ranma wondered for about the thousandth time since this whole mess started.

Oh yeah, now he remembered. Originally when he had told his grandmother about his future profession on his first trip to Jade to study under his father's old teacher, she had been...less than pleased. Okay, that had been putting it mildly, she had been pissed. The kind of pissed people saw those berserker Vikings go into on moves before they killed about twenty dozen people.

However after a lot of considerable arguing between his mother and his grandmother that Ranma had been taken away from so he couldn’t hear the shouting, they had come to a kind of compromise. It seemed Mumsey was willing to have a mage in the family, on the condition that he wasn't a 'wimpy' one.

Of course being as young (and stupid) as he was back then, Ranma happily agreed. After all, he was pretty good at sports, this couldn't bee to hard for him. Plus he got to spend some time with Grammy and his mother; okay maybe she was invisible and Ranma couldn't hear her but the letters she left for him to read were good enough for him. It was an all around win/win situation, right?

Oh boy was he wrong. After his third year Ranma was pretty sure that he could make the Olympics and get a least a bronze in about half the events. Mumsey might have been a loving grandmother, but she was a slave drive when it came to training.

Now that he was in high school and had some free time on his hands...as well as a more developed body that could actually survive Mumsey's 'more up to speed' training regimen, Ranma was going to his giant grandmother seven days a week instead of just on the weekends.

Oh God he couldn't wait till he was sixteen. Being a mage kind of made that usual teenage want for a driver's license unneeded, but that had been the age that his grandmother had agreed he should be tough enough for her.

"Hey Ranma," Gina called out to her sibling. "Don't you have the physical science test tomorrow? Still sure you don't want my help studying? I'm still offering that discount on my tutoring fees you know."

"You're lucky I'm too tired to even move sis," Ranma mumbled from his position on the floor. But as soon as his aura recovered from the trip home a telekinetic pull on his sister's underwear would be some good payback.
