"Cheetah!"
"What?" the lycanthrope Brittany Diggers asked with a confused expression before looking over to the woman she scared half to death and then sighed in embarrassment. "Oh uh, sorry Miss C. I keep forgetting." Really, she had known these people for two years, did being a werecreture make that big a deal to them? Maybe it was just that 'magic is real' thing that had the Carter woman in a daze.
Danielle Carter, part time super hero in training and high school student glared at her best friend since Jr. High for a few more moments before looking back to the woman beside her to make sure she hadn't fainted like the first time. Seeing that her mother was still conscious, although still looking at Cheetah with more than a little hesitance in her eyes, Dani decided to take what she could get and sighed with relief.
With the momentary lull in the boredom of the girl's study session over with, Dani sighed as she remembered just how they had gotten into this. It had been a couple of years since Brittany had been able to shift into her hybrid form and decided to stick with it thanks to all of the super-human physical attributes. Although Dani had thought it a little weird at first, she had long since gotten used to Cheetah's looks and didn't thin about them anymore.
In fact she thought so little about them that she forgot to inform her parents about her lycanthropic best friend and didn't remind Cheetah to transform back before having her come over to finish up a science project. Needless to say Miss Carter was quite surprised...and still is actually.
"Um, Danielle dear," her mother said. "Do you really think it's alright for your friend to be on your couch like that? You know how hard it is to clean up cat hair." Hearing that Brittany immediately froze with the tuna fish sandwich halfway to her mouth.
A few moments later...
"Oh come on Cheets you're not still mad about what my mom said, are you?" Dani asked as a commercial came on the television and she noticed the larger girl still had a scowl on her face.
"I don't shed Pinky," Brittany replied in a slightly aggravated tone. "At least not more than a normal human does."
"Well there was that one day when you and Ranma got into that fight, remember?" the other girl said, reminding Cheetah of one of her most unpleasant memories to date. "My hand and sweater were covered in your fur."
"I thought we agreed never to mention that," Cheetah said in a cold tone.
"Oh uh, sorry," Dani apologized with a slight blush. Although Danielle didn't see what the big deal about the whole incident was with Cheetah, it was in the past and Ranma would never do something that stupid with his magic again. Although it was kind of an eye opener for the teenage girl when it came to the blond boy she had a crush on since about the sixth grade.
Like with Cheetah, Dani knew about the male Diggers sibling and his involvement with magic. However until last year the Carter girl never knew just what Ranma could really do besides some illusions and other parlor tricks here and there.
It happened a little over a year ago on a Friday after school. What happened afterwards made her forget just what it started over, but Brittany and Ranma had gotten into quite the argument. It had shouting, a Cheetah headlock, that weird flaming aura that surrounded Ranma, the whole nine yards.
For a while Dani actually thought they were really going to go at it until...
(That's right it's a FLASHBACK)
From her little safety zone on the sidelines Danielle blinked as Ranma shimmered out of Brittany's headlock and glared at his younger sister. "Okay Brit I'm pulling seniority on this one. Now come on."
"Make me," Brittany said with her arms crossed. When Ranma didn't seem to do anything for a few moments Brittany just smiled. "Come on Ranma, you can't just snap your fingers and stop me. I'm bigger, faster, and a hell of a lot stronger than you."
"Not for much longer you aren't," the older of the siblings replied while his eyes suddenly flared white and Brittany got a very worried look on her face.
(-Present Day-)
About two seconds later Brittany's height advantage of over a foot shifted to about four and a half in favor of Ranma. Of course it being a higher level spell and Ranma still in the training stages of magery, Cheetah's clothes weren't included and Ranma had yet to learn the counter spell. Then they all ended up walking to the Diggers home with Danielle carrying Brittany as Ranma was afraid he was going to pass out from exhaustion and maybe fall on her.
Brittany was stuck seven inches all till their father came home the middle of the next day to reverse the spell, and ground Ranma for half a year for being so stupid, cocky, irresponsible... the list went on.
Deciding to change the subject to a more normal one Dani looked over to her best friend. "So, how's the boy situation, any prospects?" she asked the girl. After Cheetah clobbered the Varsity football team last week because of some bet of who could get the cat-girl in the bed first, people tended to shy away from her.
"Naw not really," Cheetah replied. "There is this sweet guy in history class that might be a prospect and doesn't seem too nervous around me. But he's kind of a nerd. You?"
"Well, one guy I've had my eye on," Danielle mumbled with a blush forming in her cheeks. Damn, she should have chosen movies that were coming out soon or clothes.
"Oh just one huh?" Brittany said with a slight smirk. Being what she was, the werecheetah always did smell that it of excitement in Dani's scent whenever she was around her big brother for an extended period of time.
Well, Brittany had played this song and dance plenty of times before, and now what they were done with their project the rest of the night should be devoted to girl time. So then werecheetah wisely decided to change the subject. "Oh hey I forgot to tell you, I got this killer new outfit yesterday."
"Really?" Dani asked, glad to get away from that particular area of conversation. "Human or hybrid form?"
"Human actually," Brittany replied. “I just saw it and thought it would look just SO…”
And thus the future New York crime fighter and mystical creature continued the night like every other normal girl would...
