"Yes, Ojii-san!" Yuuichirou said as he swept around. "I'm working as fast as I can, sir!"
"No, no, no, Yuuichirou!" Old man Hino snapped. "I said put some back into it, not to go faster! You need to put some more effort into it to actually move the flowers, not to just go past them!"
"Yes, Ojii-san," Yuuichirou said as he swept slower, "Whatever you say, Ojii-san!"
Shaking his head, Grandpa Hino sighed. "Good boy that Yuuichirou, but you need to keep an eye on the idiot."
Looking around to get a look over the area, to check out what Yuuichirou has done and would have to sweep again, he noticed a gentleman in a hakama walking up the steps. The elder Hino raised an eyebrow as he noticed the man had a sword by his side. "Must be a very traditional person," Grandpa Hino thought as he walked towards the man.
Having made his way up the steps, Jack noticed an elderly man walking towards him. He sighed in relief as he saw the man wearing a traditional Japanese Shinto-priest robe. As soon as the man was up to him, Jack clasped his hands. "Good afternoon, priest, how are you this-"
"Afternoon!" Grandpa Hino interrupted and started waving his prayer staff, "Upon entry, I pray for you good times, good luck, and good grades on your schoolwork. Of course, you'll still have to study."
Blinking his eyes once, twice, Jack asked, "Schoolwork? I assure you, I am not a child."
Blinking his eyes for a moment, the old man scratched the back fo his head. "Oops," Grandpa Hino said. "Sorry about that, I'm used to giving blessings to junior-high schoolers."
"It's all right," Jack said uncertainly. "Tell me, sir," Jack began, "Can you tell me were this Shrine is?" Jack asked, trying to make it sounds as though he wasn't a time traveler in the slightest.
"Ah, you are in the Aza Juuban district of Tokyo," Grandpa Hino answered.
Jack blinked his eyes. "Aza Juuban?"
"Yes! The Tenth district in Tokyo, Japan's capital city!" Grandpa Hino said. He then grumbled ot himself, "You'd think more people would know about us, considering how many Youma attacks we suffer under."
Mentally, Jack was cheering. He was back in Japan! True, it might not have been his timeline, but he was at least back on his native soil. "Tell me, kind elder. Which way is it to Edo?"
Grandpa Hino blinked his eyes once, twic,e thrive. He then broke out into laughter. "Heh! Good joke! You are in Edo!"
Jack raised an eyebrow. "I thought you said this was Tokyo?"
"It is!" Grandpa Hino said. "Edo was renamed Tokyo!" Shaking his ehad, old man Hino sighed. "Perhaps that prayer about doing better in schoolwork wasn't misplaced. You need to work on your history more," Grandpa Hino said to Jack.
"As a matter of fact," Jack started. He really did need to find otu what the time-frame was, and what was going on. "I could use some help."
"Well, no problems there!" the old priest started. "My granddaughter Rei is a genius with that stuff, really she is! Getting all A's in her courses!"
"I... See..." Jack said at length. He wasn't sure what to make of this, but if there was someone who could help him...
