"What took you so long?" asked a smug-looking Ritsuko Akagi to the unhappy-looking major Katsuragi and Shinji, who by the way, looked really good in that new ensemble *Yum yum... You can say what you want of Misato but at least she's got taste*
Inwardly, the blonde doctor was both happy and furious. She was happy because she got what she wanted. Commander Ikari had authorized the daily checkups of his son by hers truly and gave the proper orders. She was also angry at Gendo for reasons of her own.
*Flashback*
"One other thing, I have decided that the Third Child's new status requires a closer supervision. To avoid unacceptable exterior influences and security risks, I have decided that he needed a girlfriend"
"Uh uh..." Gendo's words finally registered in Ritsuko's mind "WHAT!?!"
"I am aware of the 'effect' the Third Child now on members of the opposite sex..." Ritsuko grinned sheepishly "Something like the little fiasco with Miss Kirishima a few weeks ago must not happen again. Therefore we will supply him with a 'girlfriend' who answers to NERV to keep him in line"
Typical Gendo. Even romance was something he saw as something he could use "Oh, and who is the lucky girl?"
"I have already chosen the First Child for this role. The Third Child has already shown signs of attraction for her and her loyalty is beyond reproach"
*For God's sake, can't you call your son by name even once? And why HER of all people!?* "You're kidding, right? Rei seducing Shinji? That's a laugh... She can't..."
Gendo cut Akagi's starting rant short "I am aware that her upbringing did not prepare her for such an eventuality but I am sure she will perform to the best of her abilities. She is quite intelligent and attractive. If my son has any taste, he will fall to her charms"
Ritsuko was, needless to say, pissed at this new development and made it known to the Commander "Sir, I must protest! Such a relationship is immoral! She's underage! And did you forget who she is!? Her DNA..."
Once again, Gendo's cold voice cut through the heated response of his subordinate "This useless display of morality ill suits you, Doctor" Ritsuko reacted as she had been slapped and stared at the man she had claimed to love before. Disgust at his callousness and her own foolishness invaded her being "Expert geneticists cannot tell how closely they are related because of the hybrid structure of her genetic code. Society and religion condemn incest only because of inbreeding. We both know that Rei is sterile so the whole point is moot"
*So you're pimping your little doll to keep Shinji in your clutches. Bastard...* "Very well... But know that I am opposed to this idea and find the whole thing highly repulsive" She fought hard not to let her anger at him and Rei appear on her face.
"Your squeamishness is noted, doctor, but my orders regarding the Third Child's love life stand"
"Understood, now if you'll excuse me... I have to go wait for the Third Child's arrival" She saluted Gendo stiffly and turned to leave. She stopped, however, when she heard him speak again.
"Of course, you realize you will have to help Rei in her mission. I am sure she will have many questions that only an experienced woman, you, can answer, won't she? You should also take advantage of the Third Child's check-ups to subtly nudge him in the right direction. Am I clear?"
"Crystal..." *Damn you... Damn your doll... And damn me for listening to you...* The doors of Gendo's office opened. Ritsuko practically ran out of the room in her haste to get away from Gendo Ikari.
*End Flashback*
Misato was obviously a little aggravated and it showed "Hey, we were in the middle of something when Shinji was called here. I'll have you know I drove here as fast as possible. Why was Shin-chan ordered back to NERV anyway?"
Shinji added his input "That's right, Ritsuko-san. I feel fine! I don't need another check-up" It was a testament to his new confidence that Shinji dared to express his displeasure at the situation. The old him would have meekly obeyed without a fuss.
"Shinji-kun... You were released yesterday because I couldn't find anything wrong with you regarding your health" Ritsuko suddenly frowned, making Shinji a little nervous "However, without further tests, we can't tell if there won't be some negative side effects from your... transformation. It's my duty to ensure you stay healthy and capable of piloting EVA"
"Oh... All right then" It was logical, thought Shinji. His changes had brought him only good things so far. He knew there was probably some kind of catch somewhere. Better to learn what it is as soon as possible.
"Excellent! Go inside this room, we'll start right away" Shinji did as he was told. Misato was in the process of following him when Ritsuko barred her way "And where do you think you're going?"
"Er..." Misato blinked and chuckled "I was going to give moral support to Shinji-kun?"
"More like staring at him naked..." snorted Ritsuko "You stay out while I do my job, major. By the way, this could take a while... So, see you later!"
The door to the medical laboratory slided close with a hiss. The sound of the blast door locking itself resounded through the whole corridor. Misato stayed a few seconds, frozen on the spot, before her brain rebooted "HEY! What do you mean by that crack!? And just what kind of tests involve my Shin-chan getting naked!?! RITSUKO!!!"
