Good food and good friends made any kind of trouble seem slightly easier to deal with.

The chicken and hakusai nabe bubbled away merrily, next to the umeboshi-scented rice and pickles. Was there anything else...
Ahh, of course. Cosmos added the obligatory raw egg and saurces, and sighed.
It was going to be a long time, She feared, till She could do this again. It was just a hunch, but then, She was Cosmos and Her hunchs had a way of coming true whether She wanted them to or not.
"So You've decided what to do than, Cosmos?"
"---I'm going to have to send a minor Incarnation of Myself into the thick of it."
Athena sighed too than, softly.
"A Avatar or a Vessal just wouldn't do in this case, I'm afraid. Even more risky in the long run, possibly..."
"---All right. We can just continue Our currant Contract with just minor modifications, then."
Cosmos blinked at that.
"Athena. Are You sure?"
"There does not seem to be anything out of the ordinary happening to the Timelines I protect."
Yet. The unspoken word seemed to resonate around the room.
" I'll be all right."
Cosmos hoped so. It wasn't as if Athena didn't have all kinds of friends, allies and connections, of course, but---
It would probably be a good idea to see if She could pull some extra strings before She dove into the fray, anyhow.
It felt like a storm was coming.

Okay, now. That wasn't the old alarm clock Kaji (Kaji? Ahh. Yes. Him.) had given her. She was quite sure of that, at least, since said present and giver had ceased to be a significant factor in her life a very long time ago. At least for her, that is.
She could always go back (Haa. In your dreams, girl!) but why bother?
Alright. Very well. So it wasn't her old alarm clock.
So.
What in the Universe could be trying to drag her out of bed something like 4 hours and a half before schedule?
"---Maya! Or whoever it is---- What happened? Is it an emergency?"
