"Is somebody there?" he asked.
"Somebody," a guttural voice said in an amused tone.
"Who are you?" Norman asked.
"Don't play the innocent with me," the voice said. "You've known all along."
"Where are you?" Norman demanded nervously.
"Follow the cold shiver down your spine," the sinister voice advised.
Norman edgily glanced around, catching sight of the ceremonial masks hanging upon the wall. They were grotesque and distorted, ghostly and monstrous in their forms. But he could see no sign of any motion among them. No sign of life.
"Over here!" the voice urged.
Norman twisted about, fear in his eyes as he caught sight of the mirror across the room.
"I don't understand," he said weakly.
"Didn't you wonder why so many good things have started happening for you," his reflection said as it stalked toward him. "All for you." His reflection tossed aside the glass in its hands and there was a sound of shattering glass.
"What do you want?"
"To do say what you won't," the reflection snarled. "To do what you can't. To remove certain...obstacles."
"The board," Norman gasped. "You killed them."
"We killed them!" the reflection insisted. "Don't you remember? Your little accident in the lab?"
"The performance enhancers!" Norman gasped.
"Bingo!" the reflection declared. "Me! Your greatest creation. Giving you what you always wanted, power. There're only two people that can stop us. But imagine...if they were to join us."
