A Cat's Yarn - Golden Destinies: Yoshinal isn't enough to fix this mess! [Episode 87074]

by Matdeception

Bastet had a problem.

A problem she was over exaggerating to an almost extreme limit, but she still had a problem.

She had all but denied Ranma's future, she took him from those he had most cared about for no more than what resulted ultimately in a selfish reason on her part. She had created an entirely unique race of were-creature with out giving any thought to the fact the boy would find himself in the exact same boat as the child he had been sent to protect.

There was a deeper problem to this, at least from Bastet's point of view. Saotome Ranma is an honorable man, often to the extreme when it came to family honor. Now that he had been ripped away, would he allow himself to dishonor his family honor by marrying, impregnating, ect. ect. another?

Of course, Bastet didn't think to ask Ranma his personal opinion on this matter, had she thought of it she could have saved herself from the numerous migraines she would endure during this time. Honor is Honor is Honor. Family honor above all else... but what about the Honor of gods? Ranma thoroughly believed the Honor of the Gods superceded his own honor, so this little problem of Basts wasn't really one, but the Goddess didn't know that.

Another problem she had was finding a suitable mate. This wasn't as easy as it looked, and for obvious reasons. Ranma had just come out of a massive and ultimately grade A example of how a relationship should not go, to make matters worse it is the only type of relationship the boy knew how to have. Putting aside that little problem, even more problems made themselves known. If she decided to reach out to other dimensions for suitable mates, she ran the risk of widely altering the current path this universe was following, not to mention the Universe she was plucking the mate from.

What would happen if she pulled, for instance, Setsuna Meioh into this world as a possible mate for Ranma Saotome? Would she simply accept her lot in life and move forward with that life? Or would she be resentful of being taken away from her home, and thus set up even more problems for Ranma or whoever the heck got in her way in her attempt to get back home? Of course, this doesn't even take into consideration the ultimate changes her own Universe would endure with her absence.

Of course, that was just one example, and not a very good one at that either. How about pulling Khalan, the Mother Confessor into this world? Granted it would have to be a pre- meeting of Richard, but what effect would that have for the greater whole? Well, besides the obvious effects, such as introducing an entirely unstable and often times 'enslaving' spell caster who could very well destroy everything Bast herself was working to create simply through her ignorance. This of course doesn't even weigh in the fact of what will happen to HER old world with out her presence, though it's likely Rahl would win, which she supposed was the lesser of two evils when it came to the Dream Emperor.

Of course, that was just an example.

There were always choices of females already present in the GD Universe, but out of the current list of those women who could accept Ranma for what he was the choice was surprisingly limited, and most of them were already involved in some way with some one else. Bastet may love Brittany with a passion, enough to do all this for her, but she highly doubted she could bring herself to ruin a relationship already in the works. God, this was going to be a doozy of a problem.

An Errant thought hit Bast right then. Now that Ranma had entered the world, changes that wouldn't have happened with out his interference had begun to make themselves known. For instance, the were-wolves were not in danger of becoming extinct due to Brendan's infertility spell, since that bastard never got a chance to actually cast it. Which means Jetta wouldn't be forced to marry Thabian to immediately work on siring the new generation of were-wolves. Jetta was a possibility for Ranma, even if it was practically slim to none. She wasn't currently attached to Thabian in any way except as friends, since in the original setting she had married Thabian before growing to love him, since she considered it her duty to the were-wolf species.

Then there was Strype'Gia. Who knows WHAT the hell was going to happen with him now. Brittany could very well kick the guy’s ass and leave him to rot with Ranma as her role model. Who the heck would that girl end up with now? Jesus, Bast really wished she had thought about this more, and not have been so impulsive when she chose Ranma Saotome to be the girls teacher.

So.. in reality.. Bast has a ton of problems.

Bastet had a lot of thinking to do.
