On the other hand, without emoti-chips - they were about as lively and had as much personality as a streetlamp.
"Oops," came Usagi's emotionless voice after tripping over a three micron dust speck, rolling down the stairs with her mop and pail, and ending up sprawled down at the bottom of the stairwell with the bucket over her head. "There appears to be something wrong with my optical processors."
Ranma looked down the stairs and came up with a gentle suggestion. "Why don't ya try taking the bucket off yer head, ya moron?!"
"Oh," said Usagi in that same emotionless tone as her hands removed the bucket, only to have the handle get wrapped in a ponytail. Much thumping and bumping and clanging resulted.
"Oy vey," said Ranma, who had heard the phrase while learning Yiddish Martial Arts styles some years before.
Makoto and Minako stood in identical poses and Ranma looked them over briefly. "At ease. Man, I gotta get you two moving better before we take off ta China."
"We are going to China, sempai? Is that within this building?" asked Makoto.
"That's 'sensei', and there's no we involved." Ranma informed the robot. "Me and my Pop, not y'all. Though frankly you could use the change of scenery. I'm only here cause of some arrangement he made to pay for bills he's run up."
The two units he was addressing blinked and nodded as they stored that information.
"Okay, y'all take an oil change or whatever it is ya do," said Ranma. "I... oh hey. You're that Doctor Wildey, ain't ya?"
The man coming in the door looked a little surprised. "That's Dr. Wily, and you must be the physical skills tutor. Ramen, isn't it?"
"Ranma," corrected Ranma. "Uhm, is that a gun?"
ZAPP!
"Why yes, as a matter of fact it is," said Dr. Wily as he turned the gun away from the smouldering body of the assistant and quickly shot the two units who were just standing there. "Now I'll just add these to the others and be on my way. You don't mind do you? Good. Oh, and a little bomb here to cover my tracks. Shame about you setting off an explosion that will destroy the lab, but that's what happens when you leave an idiot martial artist in charge of high tech equipment. Awfully nice of you to provide me an alibi like this. Ta-taaa."
"Go away, old man," mumbled Ranma.
"Response does not compute," said a feminine voice.
Ranma blinked up at the sight of the Usagi robo. "Ya can stop shaking me now. I'm awake."
The robot backed off and Ranma uncurled from his position on the floor. No sign of Dr Wily or any of the other robots. The only thing different was that large cylinder chained to a support post with a red LED display counting down on it. Hmmm. Oh. That was probably just a bomb.
Ranma's eyes popped open and went back to the 0:00:59 flashing on the display. "EEP!"
