And he fully intended to do so, completely honestly.
But he was still Genma Saotome, and even if he was trying to be 'good', he couldn't change some things.
He had after all gotten his training under a pervert who'd terrorised him and his training partner into stealing women's underwear.
So, he had simply fallen back upon the techniques he had learned that didn't seem so bad, and had worked pretty much before.
Only... they weren't going as planned.
Attempts to snatch food to increase speed, hand-eye coordination, and situational awareness (or so he said) wound up getting his hands nearly torn off in the rush to eat.
Trying to keep them hungry to toughen both their bellies and their self-control didn't work when the pair in question could bring home fish the size of which no one had seen before.
Running training didn't go as inititally thought when the two kids wound up going up among the tree branches rather than slogging through the swamp like they were supposed to.
And hurting their pride with insults like 'you cry like a girl' didn't work so well when one of the pair in question was a girl.
But he had hopes for this exercise.
"Now, the two of you know what you have to do, right?" he asked as they hid.
Ranma nodded. "We're supposed ta run over ta the cart and bring back what we can carry, right?"
"That's exactly it."
"But why do we have to do that?" Usagi questioned.
"Because it's an excercise in stealth, speed, and reflexes, understand?"
"If you say so..," she replied, though she wasn't totally convinced. Still, if her Papa told her so, then it had to be, didn't it?
"Good. Now go," Genma told them, and watched them head off. He felt so proud as he watched them go over, making no noise, and getting close over to the cart in question. They weren't noticed until they just got there and snagged their prizes... But what were they doing?!
"Look Pop! See what we brought back!" Ranma told him as the two came to a stop in front of him. "Good, huh?"
His father couldn't form the words to reply as he saw what the two were holding together. "Can we put this down? I'm getting tired..," Usagi complained.
The portly martial artist just twitched as he nodded slowly.
"What do you think you're doing with my cart?!" yelled the cart's owner while:
