Long enough for Usagi to get a crush on little Ukyo, and Ranma to agree that they'd make a nice couple, and Ukyo to misunderstand certain comments. So it was the same result, though a bit different.
At this point though, Ranma and Usagi found Genma was training them to new levels. Levels that frankly daunted both Ukyo and her father - so there was to be no Ukyo tagging along.
While Genma knew that Ukyo wasn't a boy and therefore Usagi couldn't marry her, and somehow Ukyo was convinced the relationship was to be between her and Ranma, he just stuffed his face with okonomiyaki and nodded and made agreeable noises to a lot of questions. It wasn't his fault if people came to improper conclusions, was it?
Once the journey had begun again, Genma was getting pop-eyed at the amount of training that was successful and how well the two were doing.
Though he wouldn't recognize it as such, Genma noted that there were different development curves here. Usagi, despite being a girl, was stronger and faster and harder to hurt than Ranma was. Ranma was better at the subtleties of the Art and was a heck of a lot more accurate.
Usagi usually took the lead in any training regimen, and Ranma was sore pressed to keep up but also hell-bent on trying to outdo Usagi.
The problem was that Genma could eventually see Usagi completely outdoing Ranma. She had arrived in the manner of a number of Japanese mythic figures, whereas Ranma was human. Ranma was already progressing by leaps and bounds beyond what Genma might have expected, but Genma didn't think it could last forever. Once he fell, it would be damn disheartening to the boy too. It might even be enough for Ranma to turn his back on the Art if he determined he couldn't keep up with his sister.
So - how could he give Ranma an edge that would allow him to keep competing?
"You cannot stand against us," declared Iridium. "We will no longer fight on your say so, or bend our knees to you!"
"Hmph," said Wiseas. "You have assembled all the sailorjin who are loyal to the old regime and way of life. You think you can convince me to just let you all go?"
"No," said Tranquility, forming an energy sphere between her hands. "We think you'll realize opposing us would be foolish."
"Foolish? You're the expert on that," said Wiseas. "I have two of the most powerful of your number who have sworn to follow me, providing that I let them both live." Wiseas raised one finger and formed a pinpoint of energy above it.
Tranquility, Imbrium, and the other sailorjin began shooting their attacks. Wiseas inflated the sphere until it was five times his own height and it shredded the energy bolts of the sailorjin as they impacted against it.
"Impossible," said Iridium. "You can't have that much power."
Wiseas released the sphere, letting it destroy the sailorjin and the planet behind them.
"That's showing them, Master Wiseas," proclaimed Diamondhead. His skin glittered in the light of the exploding planet. "They'll know better than to face you again!"
"Yes, and your victory over the sailorjin is complete now!" Sapphfyre agreed though in a distracted manner.
"A momentary amusement dealing with the monkey girls," said Wiseas. "The power of the Black Crystal will be increased a thousand times when we reclaim the Silver Power Crystal from the ruins of the planet. Begin searching for it immediately."
"Like fer sure," agreed Emerfraude. "But, like totally, what do we do with the bratty little kids?"
"They sold out their planet, their species, and their freedom for the chance to continue playing. They show considerable promise for their age," said Wiseas. "Uranus and Neptune will therefore be accorded all the perks and responsibilities of my minions."
Genma was still pondering powerups, muttering aloud as he did so because he thought it might help.
