Who would have thought that Nodoka would fall for the same man her child fell for?
Herb and Ranma did not mind at all since Nodoka deserved a second chance on life since she wasted her entire life on Genma when he abandoned her for ten years. For ten years Nodoka remained a faithful housewife to Genma and what did it get her?
Genma cursing her child, putting her child through hell, and dishonoring the Saotome name so bad that it was basically unredeemable.
After Herb and Ranma told her what Genma had done plus the three lesbain fiancees she gave her blessing to the couple and secretly started divorce proceedings.
A little while after that Nodoka fell for Herb just as Ranma did. Nodoka was overjoyed when Ranma revealed an age mushroom that would turn her into a 17 year old again. Since then Nodoka was included in the fun with Herb and Ranma.
Herb and Ranma did not mind since Nodoka had a body of a woman in her twenties when she was in her thirties.
