Akane blinked. "What does that mean?"
"You got married to Ranma."
"I did..?"
"Yeah. Apparently the two of you managed to tie the knot."
"But what about the others?" the younger girl asked.
"All I've found so far is something saying that they'd been dealt with," Nabiki replied, "Take what you will from that."
The tomboy's throat worked as she imagined everything from happy agreements, far out as that might seem, to something rather permanent. "Oh..."
"My little girl got married, and didn't tell me!" Soun sobbed, "I missed the wedding!"
Genma patted his friend's shoulder. "At least they finally realised that what we were telling them to do was the best thing for them. Our children did what they were supposed to, and our promise is fulfilled. Now all we have to do is to wait for them to give us an heir!"
"Like I would give you any child of mine!" Akane barked as she slammed the portly martial artist to the floor. "Honestly..."
"Looks like they'll never learn..," her sister muttered.
"I know. With all this evidence in front of them, they still can't figure anything out!"
"Not that. The two of you are very direct people, and even if you learned to cook halfway decent food, as well act as part of a couple, disagreements and arguements were only natural. But the fathers apparently began to push the two of you to have children as soon as you were married. Constant reminders take their toll and it wasn't a nice thing."
"It was that bad..?"
"Worse. Kuno never gave up trying to woo you away, and his sister really didn't like you. It also seems that you tried to do the things a wife should, but there were some problems, like the fact that you aren't Kasumi."
That confused the younger girl. "What does that have to do with anything?!"
"A lot. You seemed to try to be more like her, and when it didn't work out, you got frustrated. Add in the fact that a certain panda wondered why you should worry about school so much, and the pressure to have a kid... As far as I can tell from this, it got very loud in the house."
Slumping, Akane saw her fantasies of having a happy home life shatter. It just wasn't fair that she couldn't catch a break. "Just great... So I get stuck with that?"
"Until Second Impact, and to fix it we'd need to go back. Right now, I don't see how we could do it."
"This sucks..."
Nabiki nodded absently as she continued reading. There was a wealth of information here about what had happened, but she didn't know exactly how much she wanted to know. Finding out that one had already died wasn't exactly a gratifying experience, and it looked like the trouble had continued on, only to morph into other forms. Not exactly an enjoyable thought, but she was stuck with what she had.
"What about the others?"
"Hmm... Ryouga took off on a walk just before Second Impact and disappeared. Kodachi was apparently killed when a roof collapsed on her during one of the earthquakes. And Kuno, he came after Ranma when Second Impact happened, intending to save the pigtailed girl..," the middle Tendo daughter trailed off, wincing at what was written there. What was working of her mind told her to stay away from that bit.
"What is it?"
"He died in the attempt, though his little bit seemed to help... if a little unintentionally."
Her sister gulped a little and the two of them shared a long look while they:
