Including a bandit that called this desert home. Whomever he was, he was supposed to be strong, and that would mean that he would be a challenge for the children. They would have little trouble with 'protecting people who travelled in the area' and so wouldn't hesitate to fight him. And with the skills that he no doubt had, the children would get a challenge, and so grow even stronger after the fight.
Besides... a 'bandit' usually meant that someone would be offering a reward for his capture, and once the children caught whoever this guy was, he'd be able to cash in.
Pleased by his own... 'brilliance', Genma laughed deeply to himself.
"Umm... What's so funny Papa?" Usagi asked.
Ranma nodded as confusion settled on his face. "Yeah... What's the joke?"
Realising that his children were looking at him, the portly martial artist ducked his head and tried to look dignified. "I was just imagining your success against somebody."
"Huh?" went the blonde girl.
"You see, there is a naughty person in this desert who attacks people and steals their stuff..."
"That's not nice."
"Exactly. But what I want you two to do is to keep an eye out for this guy, and if he comes around, I want you to stop him, you understand?"
"Don't you worry!" Ranma replied, thrusting a fist into the air, "We'll get the bad man!"
"We won't let him hurt anyone else," Usagi promised solemnly.
"That's good to hear," Genma told the two of them, "So let's go!"
"Yes!" they chorused and followed their father into the desert to hopefully find and face the bandit, who was:
